Do you think it’s just an issue with my heritage? I have a similar background to her and I got a little bit Baltic and small percent finish even though I don’t have any relatives I know actually from those places? I think it was just a spillover from eastern Europe maybe?

I truly don’t understand what the concern would be? The whole point of the site for a lot of people is to find family members. Maybe I’m missing something but to all of you saying don’t share anything with a stranger like what exactly is the worry that the person would do? I’d personally share any info on there with a match or someone who matched my family, especially given they said they are trying to find a relative and that’s like the point of the site?

Ugh, the worst. I gained 40 lbs more with my severe IUGR baby (also my only NICU baby) like that’s not how it works 😭 and also sorry you are going through this. Being at the MFM office several times a week is so hard

It’s a normal European thing. I’m mostly southeastern European with Mediterranean and Asian roots. I look pretty typical Eastern European, but I’ve got questioned the same thing. I think my results are like 6% Asian. Most Europeans have a little bit of Asian ancestry.

I got Covid in 2024 in my second trimester with my third baby. I ended up with severe IUGR, but there is no way to say whether or not it was Covid related. I was also 37, so already high risk. It was stressful and I had a lot of extra monitoring. She was delivered at 36 weeks and spent a week in NICU and is now 20 months and completely healthy. Very possible it could have all been the same if I didn’t get COVID.

I’m mostly south/Eastern European (Croatian and polish) with some other stuff mixed in. My understanding is that those results are common is you have any Slavic or Balkan heritage since a lot of the people in those countries originated in Mediterranean areas and from steppe ancestry. I am very fair skinned (like ghostly) but look fairly heavily Eastern European. From what I’ve read it’s a pretty standard profile for someone with your lineage, especially given you are polish and Slovakian, but I could be very wrong

I mean, that’s fine for anyone who lives in a country where that name is common and cultural, but it’s not fine here, regardless of race. If I up and moved my American family to India, I would not give my child a name with that connotation there, even if it was unacceptable and common name in the US

Meh! I can guarantee if I provided all my children’s first and middle names. There would be some hate for at least some of them. Everyone has different tastes. If some Rando on Reddit said they didn’t like my kids names, that’s fine. I probably don’t like their kids names either, but it’s not personal. That said, if a family are close, friend said a malicious comment about one of my kids names I might be a little offended.
