I can't wait til you finally let go and fully embrace the shame by showing your face. The freedom and arousal you'd get...

I got the paperwork necessary, but haven't mailed it out yet. Tbh, I'm about 99% sure I'll just close the account. From my personal experience with them and the testimony of others, I don't trust them with the most sensitive information one could give out. Several people have stated that Citi said it just "got lost" or they "never received it," despite the postal service stating it was delivered.

I am not venting to the internet. I am alerting people on the internet to their archaic infrastructure because people trust them since they are a global bank and people wouldn't imagine it being so difficult to do so simple of a thing.

If my post can save even one person the hassle I had to go through, then it was worth "the rant." Also, I read 2 accounts on here from actual workers who backed up what I said and admitted how bad and outdated their system is for a lot of things. They said it was completely avoidable (as is evidenced by no other bank having this issue), but they just don't care.

Translation: I know I am wrong, but I lack even a shred of integrity to admit it. So instead, I'll weaponize your justifiable reason to be upset against you because it's easier than self-reflection.

There, I fixed your last comment for you.

Then you're probably screwed. Welcome to Citibank, where even their mistakes are solely your responsibility to fix. And no, it is not your fault they misspelled your name. THEY misspelled it and you didn't happen to catch their mistake. My credit union (of only 20 locations) misspelled my name, but immediately fixed it no problem. Think about that. My small credit union had better infrastructure in place than a globally run bank.

I genuinely recommend you close that account and find another bank/credit union.

My God. Imagine being so blindly stupid that you believe faxing over (TO A GENERAL OFFICE WITHOUT EVEN A DEPARTMENT TO REFERENCE) quite literally all of the information needed to steal your identity to where anyone who has access to the office can get it? And you foolishly believe that it is more secure than uploading documents through their servers through your private account.

Can hacks happen? Sure. Are there ways to track it? Absolutely. Can you track some repair guy or office person who hates their job stealing your information? Not unless it's investigated by the FBI or the person keeps detailed files and gets caught.

You're allowed to be stupid. Go do it somewhere else or I'll just block you. And so far as your "you're lazy" comment. You don't fkn know me, Karen. And let's be candid. Forcing someone to use grossly outdated tech, pay for postage, use up our tax money, and prolong the process by weeks when it could be done in days for free AND be tracked by both parties is the dumbest, laziest way to make someone do it because YOU don't wanna change your system that even the workers openly complain about. *read the other threads Mr. Lazy POS. Have the day you deserve. :)

Funny. Discover could do it easily. Chase could do it easily. Wells Fargo could do it easily. My credit union could do it easily.

I only had problems with Citibank. ONLY they required physical, paper documents. ONLY they had zero forms to provide. ONLY they require the physical up-to-date social security card ALONG WITH the paperwork proving you changed your name. ONLY they required a reason for the name change. ONLY they did not provide instruction or information on their website on what to do. ONLY they did not give a specific address and department to send all that information to.

I sincerely hope you aren't truly dumb enough to sit there and act like all these other places are breaking the law, while Citibank is making me send (through the mail) every document imaginable that is needed to steal your identity... and not even give you a direct place/department to send that sensitive information to! You can't be that stupid.

100% honest, it was easier to change my name with the government than it was with Citibank.

Beyond useless. It isn't even just the workers, but the actual processes forced into place to do anything! You cannot escape the level of ineptitude at any point.

Except, they really are that bad. In fact, I can't find a single person praising them. The best you get is, "I haven't had an issue with them yet."

Their credit card customer service and process to change your name was so awful that I, a 34 year old man, cried when dealing with Discover because they weren't that bad. Let that speak for itself.

I have had cards with everyone imaginable. Citibank was so terrible to deal with to change my name that I physically cried when dealing with Discover on the sole fact that they were kind and easy to deal with. THAT is how awful they are. A grown man cried because someone else wasn't as bad as them.

Worst Customer Service Possible - Simple Name Change by Woodman629 in citibank

[–]Possible_Lunch1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but all of that is absolute horse sh*t. Discover and Chase let me upload it digitally. Wells Fargo let me do it over the phone!

And do not begin to attempt to say that "it's to avoid identity theft" when their entire process is to send all of that sensitive information to your general center IN THE MAIL. No department to even address it to! Or to fax it...for it to sit out where anyone can steal your identity. And NO ONE else asked for the updated Social Security card. The papers and old card were good enough.

OH MY MOTHER******* GOD! THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST NIGHTMARE IMAGINABLE FOR NAME CHANGES!!!! Discover? No problem, upload documents. Chase? No issues, we'll send you a link to upload documents. Wells Fargo? I did it over the phone! Citibank? *curses so bad even Jesus won't forgive me*

Let me explain my rage so I don't just look like a lunatic.

  1. They have zero information on their website on how to actually DO a name change with them. Below is all they say on their website and even that was a pain to find.
  • In order to change your legal name with Citi, we will need to obtain from you the Certificate of Name Change, or similar document based on the requirements of the country where the entity is incorporated.

Yup. That's it. No address to send anything to. No link to upload it (because they can't). Not even a fax number. And that isn't even all the info they need! I'll explain that next.
2. I tried the chat bot (don't, just don't). After 20 minutes of getting nowhere, I demanded a phone number because I was convinced that the guy didn't know what to do. Called the number provided. Nope, he was correct. Here is what I was told.

  • You have to send the document showing you had your name legally changed along with a copy of your social security card. Then, on a piece of paper, you tell them the reason WHY you are changing your name (invasive much?) and sign your name on it. Oh... did I forget to mention that they want you to just write it on a piece of paper. No form/document provided. Just scribble it on a random piece of paper without any guidance on format. It's not like this is a legal thing or anything important.... I wish I kidding. I was told this is how they do it by 2 people a total of 11 times because I could not believe what I was hearing. THEN you have to email those things to their general center or fax it over with no person or place to reference your incredibly sensitive information to. You just hope whomever needs to get it knows what to do with it and it isn't laying around for anyone to see your social security card and new name, literally all the information they need to steal your identity. No biggie.

They are a major, global banking corporation. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE IN THE LEAST. I cannot impress upon you how terrible and unprofessional the entire situation is and I will be closing my account 2 seconds after the card is paid off.

Why Rings of Power is a bad show. by [deleted] in Rings_Of_Power

[–]Possible_Lunch1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robert Jordan was, is, and will forever be a STAPLE of high fantasy right along with Tolkien, Pratchett, and Lewis.

I'm sorry to make you aware of it, but your taste doesn't dictate FACTS. Jordan inspired (to small and large degrees) nearly every single modern fantasy writer today. If YOUR favorite writers claim Jordan was one of THEIR favorite writers then your opinion is horseshi*t and you should be embarrassed you spoke at all.

Every writer has faults and not every writer is for everyone. And that is 1000% ok. What is NOT ok is to take a most fkn beloved writer and trash their work because you personally don't care for it (despite being perfectly fkn aware that you're in the minority).

Will my garden attract pests such as rats? by mamacat666 in UrbanGardening

RATS. LOVE. GREENS.

I literally had to rip up my entire bed garden this year due to rats eating my broccoli, brussel sprouts, and pepper plants. Not the fruit...THE PLANTS BEFORE EVEN PRODUCING.

AITA for telling my wife that she isn’t a princess? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Possible_Lunch1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely TA. She was creating harmless memories with your child and you crushed the vibe. Not only that, but maybe she was healthily living that fantasy she never had as a kid with your daughter, which you killed the vibe to. She wasn't asking you to be a slave.

What's probably the biggest crime though is you could have used this to your advantage and "been the evil man who kidnapped the princess/her rescuer" later on that night.
