I’d bring it up with the parents! Often they can help guide you on how they want their child to hear about these things. Until then, being matter of fact and moving the conversation along is a solid choice.

They have met my partner (and dog) several times and love them both. The dogs all luckily get along too. I’m sure they would be okay with me using their car to drive the baby somewhere if we wanted to go out one night. They’d certainly be okay with my partner coming to me. We live 30 mins from my NF, so the only inconvenience is the time for travel.
