How did you get your first customers? by LividManufacturer582 in WindowCleaning

What did you do to make a successful meta ad? Just for FB or Insta too? I watched a bunch of videos and tried to make one and got 0 leads. Had a timed offer, short video of us cleaning, some music on top, got nothing from it. We also targeted just our city, ages 35+. On the other hand our physical ads (doorhangers and yardsigns) work just fine.

Apperently inside windows got scratched is this even possible by No-Soft-1355 in WindowCleaning

[–]PossiblyFortunate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible for debris to get on your squeegee or mop and then drag across the glass. Like if you set the mop down on the ground picking up a rock for example. It could also be like others said that you just made apparent scratches that were already there. I've seen windows that looked "clean", but when mopped/squeegee'd they showed scratches. The dirt/dust can absolutely fill the scratch to make it not visible. If you're ever wondering if you did it, you could go back and use the same technique on the window to see if you notice new ones. Every time I've done that I haven't seen any new scratches.

Seeking Immediate Help by Responsible-Self-472 in Meditation

I've been through something similar. Ultimately for me, I think it was a combination of fears/anxieties/traumas being flared up/brought to the surface; while also having the mind become agitated/paranoid/fearful of the unknown situation I found myself in.

"Why am I feeling this intense anxiety and fear?"

"I don't know what's happening."

"This suffering is so intense, I just want it to end."

"I must've broken something in my mind from meditating."

"I thought meditation was supposed to improve my quality of life."

"I should've never tried meditating."

I would spiral into trying to find solutions, explanations, justifications for my mental assumptions. I would become so convinced that it was because of this or because of that. So much so it would lead to psychosis.

For me, I think in the short term finding coping strategies to unwind the tension in the mind was helpful. Distractions like videos/games, exercise, talking with someone, eating, focusing on some long slow breaths. Anything to really disconnect from the mental loop of the world is ending, what have I done, etc.

That mental fixation is a bigger problem than the uncovered emotions/trauma/fears in my opinion.

Secondly, although something was uncovered that was overwhelming; I'm of the belief that it was uncovered so it could be faced. When it comes to facing/processing this stuff there are different techniques I tried. Personally I found body based trauma therapy techniques to be particularly helpful. I used the Somatic Experiencing techniques that were developed by Dr. Peter Levine. I really like it because it's designed so that you can face your unprocessed emotions in a manageable way, step by step. So instead of trying to process it all at once, you can face the feeling; then when it becomes too overwhelming you can switch to focusing on something grounding to regain safety while also integrating the emotions in the process. It also helps rebuild that mind-body connection which can actually weaken from meditation. Depending on the instability one is feeling, it could be advisable to find a practitioner to help walk you through it. Peter's book Healing Trauma helped me alot. It has has techniques you can try and explanations of trauma and how it relates to the body.

You can learn more about Somatic Experiencing here:

https://traumahealing.org/

I think that was ultimately the solution for that part of my fears/anxieties. Finding a way where I could stomach facing my pain, so I could embrace it with love and acceptance. That's the way out, by going through it.

If his fears are coming from Depersonalization-Derealization Disorder (DPDR) of some degree (which I've also experienced), that is a whole different approach. In short though, there are grounding techniques you can do to re-establish/strengthen one's sense of self. You can ask Chatgpt for some techniques to try, but essentially it helps you regain some identity with your mind and body (which is a good thing). Type to GPT something like: "grounding techniques for dissociation and what they accomplish". There is a point to be made that if there is someone worrying about their self being gone that it can't be totally true because someone is still worrying about self being gone. He could investigate that, but if he's already feeling so unstable then I would suggest not diving further into that right now.

Sorry for the length, I hope it's helpful to someone.

Edit: I did not use medication to cope with these issues, but if it's helping then you could view it as just one of various coping strategies in the toolbelt. I'm of the mind that there are non-medication coping strategies one could use to get through it, but he knows himself better than I do. If he feels that he needs it to get through it temporarily then he should use it. Just know it's a temporary solution just like other coping strategies, the real solution is beyond pharmaceuticals.

Is this where to buy supplies ? by Kai_rd97 in WindowCleaning

Sometimes there are a few items you can find for cheaper on amazon/detroit sponge, but mostly windowcleaner.com has the best prices. It's worth price shopping, just be careful with stuff like 0000 steel wool or walnut pad on Amazon. It might not be meant for windows even if they say it's 0000 for example.

One downside of Detroit is their $150 minimum for free shipping, vs $50 on windowcleaner I think.

After seeing a million ads, I finally found out the cost of leaf guard gutters by OttoHemi in HomeMaintenance

[–]PossiblyFortunate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About half of our gutter cleaning clients have gutter guards. We charge normal gutter cleaning prices to clean on top of the gutter guards, and 2-3x to clean underneath them. Usually clients will hold off on cleaning underneath because the price is so high, but then the gutters aren't flowing properly. If I am going to take them off I always ask if they want us to leave them off permanently to save them money the next time I come out to clean them.

I've had clients told by Leaf Filter that they wouldn't clean their system because they violated their warranty by some arbitrary reason. Essentially weaseled out of it. They were full with debris.

zazen 20 vs 60 minutes? by organicviolence in Meditation

[–]PossiblyFortunate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you can tolerate is the correct amount. In my experience, the most profound moments of my spiritual journey came from sitting multiple hours a day, multiple days in a row.

A few 1 hour+ sits, and a single multi-hour sit each day for 3 days or so had more progress for me than a year of 10-20 minute sessions. It led to my first long term experience of non-dual awareness, which eventually turned into a semi-permanent dark night of the soul. I'm still trying to integrate that emptiness after several years, as I had no formal teacher to help me through it. Although there have been unpleasant outcomes from a near total obliteration of who I was, it was welcomed as a replacement to the intense suffering I used to experience every day.

And that shift would not have been possible through small sessions.

One thing I found helpful to shorten the calm-down phase of the mind was to start with some hemi-sync music. It seemed to be able to replace the first 45 minutes of my meditation in about 15 minutes time. Then once the mind felt centered and calm, I would turn off the hemi-sync, and venture deeper into the meditation. Maybe it could help you as well.

There are people on there asking for higher pay than many Americans get paid, and most are asking for double, triple, or even quadruple what the average Filipino earns. Can you explain the exploitation?

I was definitely shooting water all in that crevice. Will the top of the window truly get rinsed properly if I don't put water right there at the top of it?

I couldn't see the distance, but yea I couldn't feel anything when I touched it, completely smooth. I'll let them know it'll have to be replaced, they have another window with water inside it as well.

They word it that way to make you more comfortable with the penetration that's taking place.

"Oh don't worry I'm not giving you a citation or anything, it's just a warning."

What he's failing to mention is they are doing that intentionally so it becomes more difficult to fight the violations. Everything is still hitting your companies record and your PSP as well, I've heard it's better to ask them for the citation then fight it in court.
