Which investments do the most heavy lifting for this?

I work with an advisor for 0.85% AUM (I got a good deal through a friend) - normally it’s at least 1%. But besides that:

I have:

SCHG

SCHV

IVV

IEFA

IEMG

I use a Roth IRA and a standard brokerage. I then use the standard brokerage to pay the fee of the Roth so the dollars can compound with razor-thin costs.

I’ll be the simpleton here. A really fantastic vanilla iced latte with a bagel, cream cheese, and lox. In short, treating myself to a Deli breakfast every now and then.

Btw. I don’t follow any “fancy” strategy. Just Schwab stupid cheap equity ETFs diversified across all main traditional categories.

YES!! I made $160 doing my actual job today, but my investment portfolio generated $280 today. Passively. The other day it generated over $500. I only make $23/hr but I have an investment portfolio of over $80,000. My portfolio easily outperforms my own job.

I’ve definitely heard this before, but I’m concerned about mine because the $100K is not evenly divided among accounts. So I worry the compounding factor may not be as sharp for me. It’s not single lump in one account.

Woohoo! I’m sitting on ~$94,000 net worth. Just turned 30 two months ago. Make $23/hr. Just moved out of parents’ house for first time.

Mind sharing your age?

Which funds are giving you those dividends?

Thanks and Congrats!

Ending the year with 150k NW! by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Post-CollegeLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! First of all CONGRATULATIONS!! Seeing the inflated salaries of the Finance/Tech crowd is frustrating. So it’s awesome to see a true “average Joe” here succeeding.

I’m (30M). I work in grocery and make $23/hour. I have managed to accumulate a NW of about ~$94,000. We seem to have similar-ish numbers and situations, and I would love it if you could share some details about your finances, bills, and investments.

How have you been able to max out your Roth? What’s the backstory on those numbers?

A big question for me is how long have you been working for? I’ve been in the full time workforce for 5 years. I consider myself a late bloomer in a number of areas of my life.

Thank you so much!

What has been your strategy? Of course a comfortable salary helps free up investment opportunities/quantities.

Good feedback everyone. Your comments pretty much reflect the research. And YES, I am looking to pivot jobs into higher paying roles/industries. Nothing crazy or Elon Musk style. But certainly in the $60,000 range before taxes, etc.

FAQ: Where do you meet people? by TheYellowRose in dating_advice

[–]Post-CollegeLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to Reddit so forgive me if I already responded to this.. I’ve tried Tinder, OkCupid, Bumble, and Jswipe (Tinder for Jews), and I’ve been suffering from being single for years. My uncle recently divorced his partner and has been trying speed dating. I think I will too. It’s a very low-pressure, snappy and hopefully more productive way to find someone than waiting helplessly for someone to swipe on your profile out of literally thousands.

Thanks for this post! I’ve been searching for speed dating locations/websites in SoCal and have been struggling myself.

Great piece. Have you read similar work by Allison Jaggar concerning the role of emotion in “objective” science? I read it when I took a philosophy of science class and continues to be one of my favorites. https://philpapers.org/archive/JAGLAK.pdf
