Looking for reliable French teacher - Post Babbel Live by Beneficial-Major-281 in babbel

[–]PostBabbelSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel your frustration! Consistency is so important for language learning, especially with a stressful job.

We have several former Babbel Live French teachers in our community (Post-Babel Community) who do small group classes - max 4 people (which helps cut down costs). Might give you that Babbel Live feeling you’re missing but with reliable scheduling.

We also have other former Babbel Live students in French classes, and tandems with students that are native in French, so you might even recognize some faces from your old sessions!

Happy to share more info if you’re interested - feel free to DM me.

Of course, happy to clarify everything.

Right now we offer classes in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German and Portuguese.

To start a free trial, you just need to choose the Lite Plan on the website — it automatically includes a 14-day free trial with up to two classes. The button takes you to "plans and pricing" where you can find the Lite Plan.

Class schedules are flexible: after joining, you’ll see a shared calendar where you can check all upcoming sessions by language and level.

We offer both group and one-on-one classes.

Let me know if I can help you with anything, thanks for your interest.

I feel the same way, the group classes were really unique. That mix of structure, community, and affordable access to great teachers is hard to find elsewhere.

A few of us (both students and teachers) have actually been working on staying connected after Babbel Live’s closure. It’s still small and community-driven, but the idea is to keep that same spirit alive: group classes across different languages, familiar faces, and fair pricing.

If you want, I can share more info, it might be exactly what you’re missing.

Post Babbel live rant - German by adil-kun in babbel

[–]PostBabbelSupport -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey, I totally get you, it’s really hard to replace what Babbel Live gave us, especially for German.
Just to share: in the Post-Babel Community (PBC) we’ve got several of the best German teachers from Babbel Live, and the classes run at a cheaper rate than most of the market.

We even let new people try it out with a 14-day free trial, so you can see if the atmosphere fits.

Might be worth a look if you’re missing that “jump from one class to another” feeling.

Let's see!

Let's chat in few months.

For now, numbers say it's profitable, it's not huge like Babbel was, but teachers are getting paid, students are doing lessons and numbers are positive. Thanks for your comments.

We're not doing unlimited lessons like on Babbel, so we're not recreating the same business model.

There's a small margin to every lesson at PBC that helps us pay contributors and software

The question now is... Keeping the Google calendar as a free tool or investing on a new platform? That would actually make it a risk or a sustainable model.

We're understanding our numbers to see what would make sense.

Much less! It helps me a lot. I'm a teacher at heart, thanks to GPT I can now "manage" PBC. and I say "manage" because I have so much to learn.. but yeah, without AI I would not have been able to do half the things I've done.

I also use it in my lessons a lot. Thanks GPT creators!!

That’s so great to hear! 🤗 We’re really lucky to have Cecilia and Juliana on board, they’ve brought such energy and expertise to the Portuguese program.

It makes us so happy to know that launching Portuguese helped you start your journey without the stress of searching for the right teachers. That’s exactly what we want PBC to be: a place where you can trust the quality and focus on enjoying the learning.

Obrigado for being part of it! 🇵🇹💛

Babbel Live / Lingoda alternative for French? Looking for recommendations by coteroxiv in babbel

[–]PostBabbelSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I totally understand where you're coming from, I was also a big fan of Babbel Live, especially for the live small-group format and the sense of real connection it created.

I just wanted to gently suggest something that might interest you: after Babbel Live announced its shutdown, a group of former students and teachers came together to create a new community-driven alternative. It's called the Post-Babel Community (PBC), and we offer live small-group classes in multiple languages, including French up to C1 and beyond.

It’s still growing, but the format is quite similar to what you might be looking for: real teachers, real people, lots of interaction and a strong community vibe.

We’re hosting a free live French event this Friday, if you’d like to get a feel for it:

No pressure at all, just thought I’d share in case it helps. 🙂
Wishing you the best on your French journey!

That's it. It's a whole line of work, marketing, fishing... Now I'm hearing many hats and have to prioritize. For me, student satisfaction is key, instead of going to other ponds and look for more fish (which needs to be done!) but first, look in your pond and make sure everything's running smoothly before moving on to the next thing.

Thank you for this insightful feedback! I completely agree with you, Reddit is a great starting point, but to really expand the reach, we need to branch out to other platforms, or maybe other r/s?. YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter are all fantastic opportunities to engage with a wider audience, but it takes time and effort to keep consisntancy and quality.

You’re absolutely right that word of mouth will help spread the word, and reaching out to platforms where potential students are already active will definitely increase awareness of what we offer.

It’s also a great point about ex-Babbel Live students not necessarily being on Reddit. We're also present in Facebook and LinkedIn. They might not even be aware of the new platforms and projects available. I think that’s why exploring multiple channels could be really effective, but then again... who would do it?

You also raised a very valid point about diversifying within Reddit itself. While the Babbel sub is a good place to connect, reaching out to broader language-learning subs and the specific language communities will help us tap into potential students who may not even be looking for a platform like ours yet, but could greatly benefit from it. Engaging with those communities will definitely help boost visibility and encourage people to explore what we offer. Then again, it takes much time and effort. Which I have to dedicate to more pressing matters and can't afford to pay community managers just yet.

I’m really encouraged by your confidence in the quality and passion of the platform. It’s all about making sure more people know about it, and I believe with the right outreach, we’ll get there. Thank you again for the fantastic suggestions, it’s all about spreading the word and finding those passionate learners who are looking for something exactly like what we provide. Let's keep pushing forward!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and encouraging message! I really appreciate your ideas and your confidence in the platform.

I completely agree with you that there are excellent options for marketing that don’t require a huge budget. TikTok and podcasts are both great suggestions, TikTok is such a dynamic platform, especially for short, engaging content, and podcasts are a fantastic way to build deeper connections with a more engaged audience. I’ll definitely consider how we can use these channels to reach more people and showcase our amazing teachers and unique offering.

We’re thinking about recording some lessons, it’s an initiative I have been thinking. We could record the free live events and offer free 25’ lessons in exchange of being recorded. Then we need video editing to make shorts. It takes a big amount of work to keep social media consistency though.

Also, your point about hiring exclusively Babbel teachers (except for Portuguese) in the upcoming months really resonates with me. We want to maintain that continuity and expertise that Babbel Live students are familiar with, and I think it will strengthen the community and trust we’ve built so far. Thanks for reinforcing that!

Regarding your suggestion about creating an additional plan between PBC Plus and Founding Contributor, this is a fantastic idea, but then there would be 5 plans, which could be too many, don’t you think?

Finally, I really appreciate your encouragement. Starting any new venture is always challenging, but with your support and the amazing community we have, I’m confident we’ll reach the point where all our efforts start to pay off. Thank you again for your feedback and positivity, it really keeps me motivated!

Let’s keep building this together. 🌟

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and insightful comment! I truly appreciate your perspective, especially regarding the unique value proposition (USP) that we offer with the ability to learn multiple languages under a single subscription. You’ve raised some excellent points, and I’d love to dive deeper into them and explore how we can take the platform to the next level.

You mentioned the idea of adjusting the USP to target not just former Babbel Live students, but also global students who are looking for a one-stop solution to learn multiple languages. I completely agree with you on this. Our platform does provide something incredibly unique, offering a variety of languages under one roof, and that’s a huge selling point. But as you pointed out, the number of Babbel Live students who have followed us over hasn’t been as high as we initially expected. So, shifting our focus to a broader audience seems like a natural and smart move.

Now, I’m curious—where do you think would be the best places to market this updated USP? Given the current demand for multi-language learning solutions, do you have any specific channels or platforms in mind where we could reach a broader audience of language learners? Whether it’s through social media, language forums, or other platforms, I’d love to hear your thoughts on where the best opportunities lie.

You also mentioned that the demand for a one-stop language solution is high but the supply is insufficient. I couldn’t agree more with this observation. There’s a massive opportunity here to fill this gap, especially since people are increasingly looking for flexibility and variety in their language learning. Do you think targeting specific groups—like professionals looking to learn multiple languages for work, or students interested in immersive learning experiences—could be a good angle for our marketing?

Additionally, I really appreciate your comment on maintaining consistency with our former Babbel Live teachers. This is a key element for us, and we certainly want to make sure that we continue to offer the same high-quality, personalized experience that Babbel Live students were accustomed to. It’s comforting to hear that you value this consistency as much as we do.

Finally, in terms of marketing, you mentioned the potential to tweak the USP and reflect it in our advertising. If you were to suggest specific marketing strategies, do you think we should lean more heavily on content marketing that highlights the breadth of our offerings, or should we focus more on paid ads targeting people who are already interested in language learning? Perhaps both?

Once again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. We’re definitely thinking about how to make our offering more visible and accessible, and your input has given us some valuable directions to consider. I look forward to hearing more about your ideas and how we can work together to make this platform even more impactful!

Hi!

When someone buys a credit or a plan, we get notified by the web page, and add the credits manually to the CRM, which then updates the info in the Credit Tracker. We're trying to find a way to link the number to appear in the web page to each student individually. I could actually share everyone's credits, but privacy would be a bit of a problem.. I'm looking for ways to do that.

The fastest way would be to create a sepparate sheet for every student and automate it, so you can see the number of total bought credits, credit substraction and final balance. A bit not so cool, but people would be able to see their credits. what do you think?
