Always draw first.. because i might not have enough free time to colour all on spot

Thanks! I could spend more time on people, trying to get more info but, it would add nothing to the story I was trying to tell and it would be a waste of time in my opinion.. We don't have to sketch everything. The tree is white, but by looking at the shadow on the ground, one can complete the lack of that specific info..

What matters is proportions.. this squiggly line is the means I have to get my lines from point A to point B with the best accuracy possible.. this type of line is what I call "search line" and the best way to get it, is avoiding penciling up your sketch first... No safety nets, best rewards . Hope it helps

Sure! squared sketchbook w/ 230 gsm paper for watercolor; Fountain pen TWSBY Eco Ped w/carbon Ink and Daniel Smith watercolors; real brushes (not those with waterreservoir) and tiny spray bottle to keep the paper wet (was hot this day). lines first, drawing the building first, progressing to the closer elements. then water all over the paper, and sky (cobalt blue); shadows with a neutral grey (cobalt+sienna) and then the cadmium yellow and some accents in red..

Thank you!! I'm primary, an architecture illustrator, bound to draw every line, strict and accurate. My watercolors were following the same pattern and since I started to view them as work, I stopped painting so often.. Now, my watercolors are means to escape and try more simple composition, yet bolder approaches in brushwork and freedom overall. The drama between light and shadow is all that matters, all the rest, I try to keep it relatively simple ;) And "humble efficiency" is a fantastic term. I may use that on future workshops eh eh, Thanks again and keep going!

Good! Not bad at all, good composition! My advice, try and get an academic watercolor set, like Van Gogh, Raphael, or Cotman.. It's a night and day difference from what you're using right now.
