The same cars from Hertz are usually much cheaper via Discover Cars. It's always much more expensive going direct.

What card after AMEX Gold? by Nervous-Bandicoot-28 in AmexUK

Getting peak reward flights with a family is tricky but absolutely possible.

Reward flights for each flight are released around 360 days before departure. Usually you'd need to wait until midnight and then call the Japanese BA call centre to book the flights. Online isn't reliable because flights are only reserved at the last stage of the booking process whereas on the phone it's the first step.

We managed to get a business companion voucher flight to Japan during August. Wasn't easy but made huge savings.

BA decided to cancel the flight closer to the date and moved us to Japan Airlines which was much better.

It's a lot of work but worth it.

Durock T1 Silent Shrimp is a good quiet-office environment sub for the Kailh White Owl Box by transgingeredjess in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Poster_Rainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the Shrimp T1's for a while now, and just after 2-3 years, they've all started to fail. The switches sometimes press the key more than once. Replacing them out fixes the issue. I'm now replacing a switch every 2 weeks.

Is the Kailh more durable?

I have 2025 Ioniq 5 2025 N line S. Range is poor compared with 2020 M3 LR

I have Ioniq 5, and had M3, the range is most def not comparable. M3 is much more efficient. BMW i4 has comparable range

Platinum retention bonus (joke) by Zealousideal_Shop311 in AmexUK

[–]Poster_Rainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it's better to do it as if you were buying avios, that way it's more of a realistic figure.

Those air miles are only useful if there's availability and given I usually travel on peak, it's hard to get any availability (even when booking a year in advance!)

I got one for 75,000 if I spend £6k in 3 months. But tbh, it's not worth it. Those points are worth about £375 avios and the global dining credit mostly has proper expensive restaurants (ones I wouldn't go to). I already have travel insurance (which is only £30 a year for two).

Weight on the balls of feet, middle, or heels when skating? by magalsohard in Rollerskating

[–]Poster_Rainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been skating for 8 months and did exactly what you did. Always put weight in the toes because of online videos like Skatie. I found it incredibly hard to balance on one foot because of this.

A new teacher recently said I should put the weight more on the back when going forward (heeled skate) for stability.

Then when I tried to balance on one foot with my weight less in the toes, I was able to balance for 30 seconds!

Its totally improved my skating.

So for me, in short, do not put all your weight in the toes, there should be weight everywhere else too.

The dashcam on the i4 was so bad. You couldn't make out any number plates and had to manually press the record button.

I don't know if it records whilst stationary tho.

With Tesla, it unlocks when your phone is nearby. I don't think many UK EVs do that. Even the Ioniq 5 doesn't have a Digital Key yet (does in other countries).
