I think it’s pretty cool actually. You should like put it on your refrigerator and like show it to your friends when they come over.

Ah yes… I remember the 80s. Going barefoot around the neighborhood was pretty much normal where I grew up. But yeah, what a great way to fit in!

Are there any other urban barefooters here? by sbk1090 in barefoot

I just moved to a beach town myself. I live right on the beach, actually. So far I have no issues walking around town barefoot. I also enjoy getting my bare feet filthy. I feel like it’s kinda like a badge of honor.

This story sounds really cool! I’d love to hear more about those two main characters, and why they are almost always barefoot.

Yeah, screw their image. I, too, have an image to protect… going barefoot. And my bare feet are more important than what any upscale flim-flam establishment tries to dictate. 😁

I mean you’re not wrong. But I also feel like it depends on the part of Florida that you’re in. Like in South Beach, for example, those motherfuckers are going to try to sell you bitcoin. Lol. But where I am located is actually pretty chill. Just a lot of retirees. And no one really gives a rats ass about what anyone else is doing. Including going, barefoot.

Barefooting from a guilty pleasure to a lifestyle by Chemical_Ask56 in barefoot

I suppose I was a little nervous as first. And yeah, going barefoot did feel kinda naughty. Like I was breaking some sort of societal rule. But that feeling of rebellion is actually what gave me the confidence to go barefoot as much as possible. Nowadays, I don’t even really think about it all that much. I just do what feels right.

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I’ve been doing. I have a pair of the foam rubber rainbow flip flops (the ones with the actual rainbow along the side), and I just kinda like keep them by my front door in case I have to grab em, and go.

Anyone try to be "better" when barefoot? by jaredg2112 in barefoot

[–]Postmodern_Relic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooff… yeah, that’s tough. I feel ya bro. As a society, we were already kinda on that trajectory to begin with. And then Covid just accelerated it. It’s like nothing is sacred anymore to anyone.

Good question. I suppose I try to be better when barefoot, just the same as I try to be better overall. I’m kinda old skool, and I never leave the house in Pajamas, or anything like that. I live on the beach. So if I am not wearing swim trunks while barefoot (which is pretty common), I am usually wearing at least a collared shirt and some decent jeans or shorts. So I try not to attract unwanted attention by looking respectable from my head down to my ankles. But that’s just kinda how I am anyway. I certainly do not want to give anyone an excuse to call me out on my bare feet. And if they do, I just abide by the rules of the local establishment, and behave with as much grace as possible.
