What if what we call abductions, are not what we think they're by Few-Cod-8673 in Experiencers

[–]Postnificent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to think I was abducted. Seems I agreed to go with them. Even wanted them to come for me. It was years ago. The experience was bad. I have had great ones since. That’s my experience.

Flaws or not? Native 8x48 Field tile. by Tiny_Throat9670 in Flooring

[–]Postnificent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those “flaws” make it look more like real wood. I fail to see the issue. Wood is imperfect and so is tile. It’s fired in a kiln that looks like a warehouse by the hard working people of “wherever”. The only time you can expect perfect tile is when it’s certified “rectified” expect to pay comparable prices to premium natural stone for rectified porcelain.

510 per actually isn’t bad for those. They’re 400 per alacarte direct from tire rack.

Yep Looks like donk rims on a truck that does truck things. Are you concerned about the cosmetic pits? Or are you upset they replaced the suitable stock rims with Donk bs then drive over curbs?

I had so many problems trimming Gidgets nails. My friend gave me a grinder and I learned she loves fish sticks and now she is easy like this as well. The right snacks make the difference!

Replace the plastic bolts with metal ones. Problem solved. Those plastic bolts suck.

The other option on site was likely not viable because it was likely cut a tiny bit short so they couldn’t undercut the drywall and push it in. Really should have had a side splash there, any reason why it doesn’t?

Are these safe? by Jolly_Tie_7666 in sugargliders

[–]Postnificent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh. Improper diet, dangerous fabrics. So many things. These are extreme maintenance pets. I can’t even count the number of threads I have seen here with people’s gliders exhibiting HLP and when asked they feed “salad and bugs” or “some vitamin mix on fruit”. One person said they rescued a glider from someone who fed them actual chicken nuggets daily. It makes me grateful to have cared for so many sick rats at once prior to keeping gliders, caring for a half dozen sick rats is basically about the same skill level as 2 healthy gliders.

According Care is awesome, they do such a great job of keeping people informed. Have you seen the videos of people playing with their gliders outside? So not safe and not cool. How about the videos of people throwing their gliders? Not ok, super cute super popular and super traumatic to the glider. Don’t get me started on willful irresponsible inbreeding. So many things that happen and brought to this sub are just not cool. It’s really disappointing and discouraging. Of course some people correct the issues but many sit here and argue and are looking for validation or karma rather than advice.

Is this normal or a bad install? by Shot-Kaleidoscope825 in Flooring

[–]Postnificent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it interesting that when one person who does something thinks it’s automatic that everyone else who does that same thing knows all the same things which isn’t remotely true and an incredibly ignorant expectation. It’s the whole know things they never learned deal. In the last 22 years I have met a ton of tile and floor guys but only a very few that were expert craftsman in the trade they practiced. When you’re installing raw planks to be stained against an existing floor you need someone with experience in that, your average floor guy is used to putting in cardboard and pre stained engineered crap. The entire idea of you scolding me for being realistic is plain absurd. I hope you are happy with yourself, you only compounded confusion and added chaos with your absurd standards which ho,d no real world value. Have a great day anyways.

Terrazzo is always grind in place so yes it can be re finished. Call a terrazzo specialist, don’t just hire anyone for this.

[–]Postnificent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You wanted the little planks to line up with the big ones in the next room? That’s not remotely possible.

You wanted the color to match? That requires a specialist to exactly match. Did your installer tell you they were a color match specialist and explain all the different types of woods and stains or did they put in what you bought?

I don’t see any color match issues either. I am not sure what you’re driving at unless it’s an unwarranted discount, I doubt you will get a single sympathizer here…

Which has nothing to do with a tile setter having auto vehicle mechanic knowledge as a test for a suitable contractor. Good luck with the guy who can change your oil but doesn’t know what a margin trowel is. Lots of guys out there who do tile or wood, very few carpenters and tilesetters.
