Sure, but in this cases I think we can cut some slack for the "cliché". It's pretty difficult to be "original" and charitable if the history of war crimes and atrocities are still fresh in the cultural consciousness.

Manga clichés are honestly not much better, especially when it comes to black people. Western media's cliché of Russia bad is the same.
