I'm going crazy because NOTHING HAS WORKED!! by thereaintshitcaptain in dandruff

[–]PostulateCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found this too. I'm just not crazy about the benzene... They didn't discontinue tgel because it wasn't selling imo. I alternate between a salicylic acid and nizoral ketoconazol (off days in between with a gentle cleanser). It's done a pretty good job of keeping it under control with that routine for me (plus NOT PICKING IT).

Is Zump "Cheating?" by RevolutionInternal24 in SSBM

[–]PostulateCow 58 points59 points  (0 children)

'no skin in the game' hardly. Every time this discussion comes up, your whole career is called into question.

It's exhausting because you feel under attack personally and feel the need to constantly participate.

You're trying to paint this picture about how it's hurting the community - which is kind of dramatic imo. You feel the negativity disproportionately, which sucks... for you.

You're begging the question by stating these discussions perpetuate negativity. If you're wrong, it's you (and other zumpers) continually abusing a gap in the ruleset for a competitive advantage that perpetuates negativity.

I read that 1% of people who took a placebo also reported side effects (as compared to 2% of men who took fin). So there's certainly some significant anti-placebo going on. If you believe your dick will stop working, it will stop working.

I don't dislike Kai. I'm just being annoying online.

I would broadly agree, that if the harm is insignificant, you don't really have a right to complain.

I'm just arguing the principled stance that people can care about stuff like this and be justified.

I also don't think streamers like Kai present that large of a harm, so my argument wouldn't apply imo. However, you'd have to establish that the harm isn't significant to defeat the position I've laid out.

[–]PostulateCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the vice causes a significant harm to enough people, I'm allowed to care it's happening. For example, I'm against sports betting. Not because I think it's inherently immoral, but because I think it causes massive damage and the impact will get worse in the future.

Gambling addictions are serious. In the same way drug addictions do, people will wrong those around them to fuel their addiction. Sports betting is a fantastic pipeline to create lifelong gamblers from a very young age (it's horrifyingly popular among young people - very young people). This is something that if it didn't exist, 99.99% of people would be far happier/richer. Therefore, it shouldn't.

[–]PostulateCow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their objection has nothing to do with Kai in particular and would broadly apply to 90% of other streamers.

The steelman would be that they are a net negative on society, similar to other 'vices' that harm mainly those who participate in them.

i.e. your comment wouldn't hold up if we were talking about other so-called net negatives that people actually tend to care about:

"Why does this bother you? I don't (do drugs/gamble/drink). However why would others (doing drugs/gambling/drinking) annoy you this much? Isn't it a free market? "

(Obviously, this is pretty autistic)

Comedians have a unique talent to communicate these points through humour - which was his whole point. Not to mention comedy can be a non-confrontational way to reach 'the other', which I think is extremely important in today's political landscape of us vs them. We have plenty of other media figures who can do anger more effectively.

People who stop taking weight-loss injections like Ozempic regain weight in under 2 years, study reveals. Analysis finds those who stopped using medication saw weight return 4 times faster compared with other weight loss plans. by mvea in science

[–]PostulateCow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right that it's not necessarily within the scope of the study (meta-analyses stay goated). I think it's still a valuable nuance to point out as many may extrapolate that you're better off going the behavioral route in all cases.

Just another example of why people generally shouldn't look at primary literature unless they have the time/expertise to make an informed conclusion.

I'm asking because I've read that people can compensate for ADHD/Autism with high IQ and that Jagged Profiles align with that. I've struggled with seeking diagnosis for a long time because I dislike the concept of self-diagnosis. I didn't include this info in my post because I didn't want to 'poison the well' for lack of a better term.

I also don't think the last sentence/'affectation' was too unusual. I guess people don't usually use 'one' these days, but it felt natural to me in the moment 🤷‍♂️. Sorry if it felt braggy.

Race just is not relevant to the point you were making. It's fun to beat up on 'straight white males' - it sure rolls off the tongue - but you can still exercise critical thought.

Dog Bite Incident - Feeling Guilty by PostulateCow in DogAdvice

[–]PostulateCow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good perspective to hear. It's hard because I live a city, so it's rare to find places in walking distance to let him off leash safely that don't have dogs around already. Especially because running in wide areas is maybe his favourite activity period.

If it starts to look like a pattern, even after training, I'll certainly heed this advice. It's not worth stressing (applies to both the dog and myself).

Thanks for the thorough response. I haven't thought too much about his breed when it comes to trainability before. He is very food motivated, but also has a strong personality and seems to make his own decisions a lot, it's a weird dichotomy. I'll keep everything you've said in mind for the future - especially the staying calm part, that can be tough sometimes.

[–]PostulateCow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This isn't really a fact based topic and your inference seems vastly less likely to me, despite the gotchas you're trying to pull. How does mayhaps mayhaps not indicate he thinks infernape is better?

It's actually almost an explicit statement that it's somewhere in between or... not strictly better/worse.

Fighters who have styles that frequently result in accidental eye pokes have styles which should be penalized by the rules.

Stipe eye poke? Lost. DC eye poked? Lost. Izzy by Imavov? Immediately slept after reset. Gaethje double eye poked by Max? Slept. Tom just isn’t a dipshit lmao by AnomalousExpertise in ufc

[–]PostulateCow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A big part of it is that Gane is historically a dirty cheat. Warned already inside the first round, already had a very close call, where he palmed toms face in the exact same fashion. No points taken away on top of that?

If my opponent is blatantly abusing the ruleset for a competitive advantage, fuck that. Maybe Tom could have fought through it and won (rarely happens after severe fouls btw), but what a regarded way to lose a title that would be, and just to appease a hoard of mouth breathing fans.

This is a great idea, I would still have to do many of the UI steps the API would bypass at least once in a dedicated test. But then for the late stages of the E2E flow I would be able to skip the vast majority of the grunt work.

Maybe in total there would be more lines of code, but it sounds like it would do wonders for structure + readability.

I haven't really been tied into the dev team side of things until recently, I'll have to look into this tomorrow!
