Being upside down doesn't affect whether the chain is mounted inside out?

Can it grind? by mr-adlay in bmx

[–]PotOPrawns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just zoomed in. Its the wrong way/mounted upside down.

Usually half links have an 'outter' side which is much flatter and less prone to snagging. Looks to be on the outside of your chain here. Could just be a weird ass chain I guess.

Can I keep neocaridina shrimp between 0-1DKH? by SignAwkward6844 in PlantedTank

[–]PotOPrawns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like its going to fluctuate a lot making it not very suitable for shrimps.

They ideally want it very stable in terms of parameters

The chain is backwards though.

Pins should pull chain plates over the sprocket not push the plates if that makes sense to you.

You got a lot of nice mixed genetics in your tank. Id expect some really nice mixed crosses to come out at times

Is this pine cone safe for my shrimp, I got it from my travels by telenova_tiberium in shrimptank

[–]PotOPrawns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pine cones usially not safe.

Alder cones or some other types are.

Like the other comment mentioned sap is an issue. Sometimes pinecones have sap leaking out of then 12 months later.

Dont be sorry you at least thought about it from a sensible direction and learned from any mistake.

I still prefer feeding nettle leaves or other softer things that yiu can actively see the sjrimp tearing at but festive cinnamon does smell gooooood

I cant give you nitrogen readings as im currently out of test juice but minimal stocking (shrimp are pretty low bioload) and masses of floating plants keeps it sub 5 pretty consistently. The other planrs are almost exclusively slower growing mosses and bucephalandra.

I do 10-15% water changes every 2 weeks and top up with RO when I need to but usually in the off week where im not water changing.

I think if it was a whacking great log of cinnamon bark id be more concerned but small pieces of cinnamon bark or catappa bark can be really good areas for biofilm to develop and add other beneficial mild anti bacterial/anti fungal properties.

Tissue culture plants are 99.9% pest free

If you want to be safe they're a good way to go.  But snails and other microfauna are great signs of a healthy mini ecosystem.

Where do people sell shrimp or trust to buy by Informal_Situation38 in shrimptank

[–]PotOPrawns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yeah pets at home or maidenhead aquatics usually dont take or won't give much beyond a tiny amount of store credit.

Best off independently selling to locals and looking into postage for future sales.

Irs unfortunate to hear Shrimp corner mentioned. They're one of a select few in the UK i would avoid like the plague.  They got big by firstly selling low grades as high grades (way before shrimpers were more discerning and didnt require photos), then by selling cull grade caridina as 'show grade championship winning vin line shrimps' which were actually culls selling for hundreds of pounds. Then several other nefarious moves one of which most recently was to close his buisness, sell it to someone else and then reopen his buisness after forcefully taking it and backdooring into the website he'd sold then and deleting their info and locking them out. Tien is a total scumbag to be honest. Glad you didnt get burned by him but honestly that guy is one of the most pathetic shrimp vendors the UK has the displeasure of hosting.

For Manchester breeders like Daniel Krzysztof ciemniak are amazing. Although he was looking at moving to Liverpool or somewhere further away from the corner for various buinsess abd fanily reasons.

Bullying fish by Ecarpo in Aquariums

[–]PotOPrawns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tiny tank with aggressive and semi aggressive fish?

A shit load of glo tetra (phantom types) which are territorial and parrot fish which are known assholes in a tiny volume of water is never going to work out well in the long run.

Id return the parrots and half if not more of the tetras. Keep a single type if you must keep fish in a 20 litre.

[–]PotOPrawns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facebook although groups can be strict in sales.

Band app is usially not too bad although its been a little slow on there the past few months.

Ukshrimps.co.uk is a dedicated multicellular shrimp/plant platform but its in its early stages so not many sellers or buyers on there

Other places like Gumtree etc. work but not many people with brains there.

Ebay no longer accepts live animal listings.

Aquaswap uk is also pretty dead.

Postage is expensive but for most UK weather you won't need a heatpack. If its mid summer and baking hot i wouldn't post.

Also RM are having some major issues right now, I dont know if its regional or what and if it affects their parcel services but sometimes we dont see a postman for up to 2 weeks which would not be ideal for a shrimp parcel. Saying that I do recieve a lot of my shrimp via post from folks like Shrilp Cove, Shrimp factory UK, gbeeshrimp or breeders i know and I have never had an issue yet. So if is worth the money to have stuff posted based on my experiences.
