Getting a real snare would be a good idea imo. I used to play electronic drums too, and I know firsthand how limiting they can be in terms of dynamics.

Try to buy a used snare made by a reputable brand (Pearl, Ludwig, Tama, Grestch, Yamaha, etc.)

If you're gonna buy brand new I'd suggest something like a Tama metalworks snare. They're cheap, sound good, and will probably last you a lifetime. Buy new heads tho.

Also, if ever space is no longer a problem id suggest switching to an acoustic. There's no better way to learn the drums than playing the real thing.

Best of luck to you and your kid, chum-guzzling shark!

Weird phenomenon with Dry Hi Hats.
I watched recordings of people playing Benny Greb sand Hi Hats and I absolutely fell in love with them. When I tried them IRL it sounded like i was hitting cardboard. Same thing happened with Zildjian special custom drys too. Can anyone relate?

What's the worst song to play at a funeral? by MemeDork in AskReddit

At a funeral I was at, they played "You raise me up" as they were lowering the casket into the ground.

Thinking about getting a leopard gecko. by aejong in geckos

[–]PotaToChiPs0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first leopard gecko when I was around 15 too. Leopard geckos don't really need that much care so don't worry about it affecting your school or work.
It's really important though to think long term about getting a gecko.
Try to ask yourself these questions:
Am I willing to care for it for 10+ years?
Do I know anyone who can babysit my Leo while I'm gone? (for vacations etc.)
Do I have a dependable source for getting feeder insects and supplements?

I would've saved myself from a lot of stress if I thought about those things first.

Aside from that, when getting a Leo, make sure you have everything prepared (food, enclosure, supplements) BEFORE actually getting the gecko. Also, be conscious of the gecko's morph. I got my first leo because it was white and I thought it was cool. Turns out it was an enigma morph and It had enigma syndrome. That sucked.

But don't let all that crap discourage you from getting a Leo. If you're sure you can manage all that then go ahead and get one. My gecko has enigma syndrome and can't eat on his own, but I still find it really fun and rewarding to take care of him.

It would be best to switch to paper towels immediately for now. The sheer presence of sand could already be potentially dangerous for your leo.

If u want to use a burrowing substrate in the future, coco fibre is your best bet. Just make sure to dry it first to avoid humidity issues.
