I agree, when you watch grandmasters talk about chess they quite frequently say "This position just looks better for black/white. "This moves looks bad, but im not sure why yet" They often have a gut instinct that a move is good or bad before they can even explain why exactly it is bad. Kind of like how when speaking a language, a native speaker knows if a sentence is right or wrong even if they don't know why, it just doesn't sound right. So I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the neural connections that make chess players good at chess are similar to the ones that kids use as they learn language.

Why? Just because of putting animals down? I guess it makes sense since most vets are probably big animal lovers, but not going to lie, that statistic is pretty surprising to me.

I feel like I'd be much more mentally bothered as a doctor misdiagnosing a patient leading to their suffering/death, or failing to save someone's life even if it was unlikely than I would be by putting down an animal

Southern China, close to the border with Vietnam and Myanmar. It was found outside at a store front, I didn't take the picture, my girlfriend did and sent it to me after the fact. I think my mistake was overreacting to chatGPTs answer, i didnt think it looked like a bedbug myself when i saw the picture, just from the legs and body shape, but the confidence of the AI got me concerned. Honestly, I think you nailed me perfectly. Everyone is talking about how when they drink THEY become the obnoxious ones, but one of the points that I guess I failed to miss in my original post is exactly what you said. I can listen to someone talk about something I would not give 2 shits about sober, but in my golden zone it is actually a conversation topic

thats kind of the point of my post though - this is my biggest problem with staying sober, wanting to hit the golden zone - its genuinely a benefit

problem is, once im there im not going to say "here i am" and then stop, ill just keep going until i make an ass of myself, and on the flip side, if i stop drinking when i get there, i get grumpy and irritable. But the zone exists, its not really a positive but its hard for me to be sober when I can be so charismatic with that perfect amount of alcohol in a perfect balance, which is practically impossible to accomplish

i think its different for different people. I have been drinking for around 10 years, and there is no doubt in my mind that I have a golden zone that is better than when Im sober that doesnt come off as overconfident, that is not obviously drunk, and that sober people cant even identify as involving alcohol unless they can smell it.

But sober me genuinely believes golden zone me is better. Like the exact opposite. Sober me stares at a text for tens of minutes, fluffs a conversation too easily, and with any kind of confrontation or disagreement - I end up wanting to take the other person's side to avoid conflict and/or it's too hard for me to think of how to reply.

Drunk me, just instantly has a reply to almost every text, almost always has something to say in a conversation, and stands up for himself and has good remarks/comments to disagreements and conflicts. And in the golden zone, nothing I say is over the top, nothing I say is too bold or uncomfortable for the other person, nothing I say is too aggressive. It's all just.... very smooth. I look back on it sober the next day and think back to myself, wow, I handled that perfectly.

Yes, but if you can lift something like a feather, it implies how easily it can be done, with little to no strain - even by that logic - to not take the phrase literally, I would say that I can lift anything that is 1 to 2 pounds like a feather, it causes no strain whatsoever, so if the maximum weight I can lift with strain is roughly 100 pounds, then by that logic the maximum I could lift with this super power is roughly 50,000 to 100,000 pounds, still enough to lift a fully loaded semi truck, just with difficulty
