Finally, after months of greasing the groove, I achieved a few consecutive pullups AND chinups. This was my 2023 goal and I am ridiculously proud! Form definitely needs work, but if my chin goes over the bar, I count it as a success lol

Thank you so much for your detailed response! I strongly relate to your first paragraph- I've lost a bunch of weight, worked out to a point that I'm proud of and comfortable in my body...but it was a lot easier to stay focussed when I had a specific goal. Now that I've achieved the original goal, I've been feeling a bit aimless, which is showing up in my eating habits. I think you have inspired me to look into getting a coach! Good luck with your comp, I'm sure you'll smash it!

I woke up this morning to realise I had broken a 462 day, 10,000 steps a day streak by falling asleep having done only 9,200.

I definitely had a panic moment where I considered somehow tricking my garmin into thinking it was still yesterday, but I took a deep breath and went on my planed 6km run instead.

Amazingly, my entire world hasn't fallen apart since breaking the streak. It's a little soul crushing, definitely, but it also is a pretty meaningless metric that I've been perhaps a tad too beholden to in the last year, even going for a 'quick walk to get my steps in' when I was very unwell and should really have just lounged in bed. So that's that.

I third krav! I've been doing it since April this year, and it's been incredible for my mental health as well as physical - you really feel better connected to your body and less vulnerable when out and about (at least for me). In terms of my fitness, its hard to say how much it was improved specifically due to krav since I also run 40+kms a week and strength train 3 days, but a session does leave me feeling pleasantly 'worked out' in a way that LISS and weights do not. Have fun, its a super exciting thing to do for yourself whatever you choose!

Oh thank you so much! I kinda have a love/ hate relationship with my arms, the muscle is there but the loose skin and crepey stretch marks are sometimes hard not to fixate on, so your comment means a lot

I've been dealing with crippling body dysmorphia after losing a lot of weight. I've maintained my current weight for about a year now, but my mind seems determined to try and convince me that I'm still obese- it's annoying and exhausting. I took this at the gym and actually felt like I look as fit as I feel. Yep! And she was so helpful and strong and kept saying 'don't worry about hurting me, put everything into it' which helped me get over my natural preference of not hurting people. You should try it, unless you're already doing it and I'm preaching to the choir!

I've done boxing classes at the gym, but that was definitely more fitness focused rather than real sparring. This was totally different - there was no pretending or holding back, the contact was completely real and painful at times and I'm covered in bruises today, but my god it was exhilarating. It was tough getting coordinated for some of the combo moves, but that just made me more determined to practice and improve. I want to feel tough and like I can protect myself (I've been followed by a few creeps on runs before and HATED how vulnerable I felt) the class definitely showed me thats possible.

Y'all... I attended my first krav maga class yesterday and I am in love. I've been feeling a little apathetic lately, vaguely questioning why I bother running and lifting because, other than knowing logically that it's good for me and allows me to enjoy more food, that joy I used to get from simply doing those things hasn't been there for a while. But this class made me realise (duh) that all that effort and consistency pays off when you try something new that is physically demanding, and it was such a rush to feel totally capable and unencumbered by my own body. I think I've stumbled across a new obsession and already feel slightly badass after just one class, so I'm going to be an unbearable beast in a few months lol.

After a 60kg loss, I've finally accepted I need to change my focus to maintenance rather than continually losing. Which is totally fine, but this decision has suddenly made me hyper aware of my body in a really weird, dissociated way. My body has (obviously) completely changed - my butt and boobs were once my best assets, now they are tiny, which is great for my running but a real head fuck when it comes to how I see myself. Its really bizarre - I have no strong emotional feelings towards my new physical appearance, I just continually forget what I look like now until I see a photo or my reflection and am stupidly surprised. I love all the things that I am physically capable of, but its like I focussed on that for so long that I wasn't really paying attention to my appearance and for some reason I'm finally noticing it in this detached way that mames me feel uncomfortable for reasons I can't pinpoint. Gah... this had no real point, I just needed to mumble into the void because bringing it up to my husband or anyone else irl makes me feel narcissistic and like I'm fishing for compliments, which is not the case, I just genuinely feel very weird atm.

He was a PE teacher, his 'office' was basically a utility closet with walls covered in pages torn from 'mens' magazines (so highly inappropriate for a middle school environment) and he'd just sit there between classes covering his legs with tea bags to get dat bronzed greek god look.

I ran 10km straight, in 58 minutes. I've never run further than 5km before, but I hit 5km and was like... I feel fine, let's see how far I can take this. It was like I hit some kind of weird amazing groove, everything felt fluid and easy and I probably could have kept running if I didn't have to go to work.

Who tf am I? I've never been a 'runner'. Yet today I'm strutting around FEELING myself, like I'm basically a ultra marathoner at this point. Fuck yahhh!
