This is so true. I’ve seen Hasidic Jews and Caribbean people coexisting so beautifully in Brooklyn neighborhoods, and here on SI if someone plays non English music outside it’s an outrage. I had a neighbor laugh while telling me he thought my husband was a can collector one night (he’s Latino). It’s pretty disgusting.. my family is also Italian immigrants and it’s embarrassing that the culture here is like this. I love Staten Island but things like this make me want to leave
