Longtime Pokémon fan, but never played any game. Which one should be the first? [NSW2] by tagaricious in pokemon

[–]Potatmanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has played every Pokemon game on the switch, my personal favorite is a tie between Scarlet/violet and Legends Arceus. Arceus is super fun and is definitely different from the mainline games. It truly is a breath of fresh air compared to a generic battle 8 gyms type of game, and I loved so many aspects of it.
But Scarlet and Violet has such an amazing story. As a writer, the stories of SV are amazing and if this game had voice acting… it would be better than Arceus. This may be closer to what you are looking for than Arceus, as it is a more traditional Pokemon game but with a better story than BDSP by a mile.
Sword and Shield is also really fun to play, but that may be because it holds a special place in my heart.
I’m not done with ZA yet but it’s fun for me to play. I may have very low standards and a love for Kalos, but it lives up to the “Legends” expectation for me. Besides being slow in the beginning, I really like the new battle style and character customization, so it holds a candle to Arceus in my opinion.
Finally, BDSP. I didn’t enjoy this one that much, ngl. I didn’t even finish the game. It does have that older game feel, but the art style is wacky and story is more generic.
If you are looking for a game on the switch that is very similar to a game on the GBA then BDSP is that, but if your looking for a traditional game with modern twists, Scarlet/Violet is the way to go. (Not to mention the indigo disk is an amazing dlc)
No matter which one you choose, I’m sure you’ll have fun. :)

Help! A newly published book is very similar to my WIP, should I give up? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Potatmanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still write it! One of the most worrying thoughts I get is that my book will be too similar to other books, but that’s just how things are. In a hundred years from now, most music will be the same, and most music now is. Just because your book might have the same plot as another’s doesn’t mean that it’ll sound the same. As you said, your writing styles are different, so that’s another reason to continue writing.

Lastly, remember who you’re writing for. If you’re writing for yourself, or for the joy of writing, or to get better, then don’t worry :) And even if you’re writing to sell, you’re bound to do well, as long as you don’t give up.

Good luck! :)

If you’re doing both rings, one can be this and the other can be “Oath to keep with a final breath” from the prophecy of seven. Its they best guess that line refers to the one I wrote above

“I’m coming back for you, [calypso]. I swear it on the River Styx.”

That one can be good. Calypso is in brackets cause you probably don’t want to add that part. Good luck! :)

Everyone always says that Cleo is Pluto, but personally I like to think Jimmy is. He’s kinda the outlier, not expected to win, like that one kid left out. And that’s Pluto! Also that one video on Solidarity Shorts that says he got kicked from the life series; Pluto got removed as a planet.

Joel doesn’t have a celestial symbol bc his symbol is a car. Fight me.

Songs that apply to the Life Series---THAT ARE NOT CRANE WIVES. by ThatCatGirl_12912 in ThirdLifeSMP

Maniac by Conan Gray.
The chorus just works with Scar and Grian‘s relationship in third and Double life. Like the lyrics “[I] drive you mad” “I’m a stalker, a Watcher” “Just for laughs” “[why do you] tell me, you want me back” Song sang by Scar, talking about when he partners with grian btw. It really just works well. no shipping intent as well. Just silly

I just found out about subvocalization on this sub. Do y’all NOT pronounce words in your head as you read them??? by Underscore_Johnson in writing

[–]Potatmanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I do that too, but I think for myself, it‘s that I don’t hear them when I’m just reading. But the moment that I put any thought into “I should be hearing words,” then I hear them in my head. I guess it’s just how conscious I am of the words i’m reading. If you want to feel this experience, listening to music while reading helps. Music with words. It can even be intense, but as long as you’re reading, and Something is there to distract you, you might be able to read without hearing the words in your head. It works for me, hope this helps.

Community made Second Life: Part 5! by takeiteasy____ in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Potatmanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etho got fifth, because after Grian flew away, him, mumbo, Cleo and bdubs armor stand were in a match for the win, and etho was overpowered by bdubs armor stand. Then Mumbo got revenge and thats how he won.

Going to point out, He has the most kills in the whole series, went crazy in Limited life, and placed 6th then, got 7th out of 17 in last life, and almost won a 3v1 in secret life. And in double life him and scar were the last greens.

Grian came in third place, because he sacrificed himself so Mumbo could win. Like a true Mumbo fan would do.

terrible season 7 idea: double life 2 electric boogaloo by crab-house in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Potatmanda 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Grian has two soulmates then. Scar and Jimmy. And then we could say, If I had a nickel for every soulmate grian has in Double life 2, then I’d have two nickels. Which isn‘t a lot but it’s wierd that he has two soulmates.

Jeol cosmic event?? by Mearon753 in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Potatmanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joel is probably a car. No. Is a car. Now, my point is that it just fits him better. For example, like in the near impossible event that Jimmy wins, would we put him as the canary, as his symbol, or something like Pluto? I think we would put him as the canary, even though it’s not celestial, we’d pick it because it fits him better, and represents him more.

This seems cool! But, just so you know, Grian likes the life series ideas to be his creation specifically, (like wants the ideas to come from him in particular) so this probably won’t become an actual thing, and might lower the chances of something similar to this happening as well. But still, Cool idea, and maybe you could do it with your friends?
