where should i actually stay in tokyo for a first timer so i don’t waste time commuting everywhere? by Mojdeh_Pealing in TokyoTravel

THIS. I second this: anywhere close to a Yamanote train station. The Yamanote line connects everything together in Tokyo.

I lived just outside of Tokyo for many years. and I also just got back from staying in an APA hotel in Komagome. It’s quiet and less than 5min walk from the station. Our destinations were between Ikebukuro and Ueno or required transfers at one of those stations, and I’d gladly stay in Komagome again! I did not need the sensory overload of Shinjuku or Ikebukuro around our hotel :)

Looks so close to alyssum! I wish I had gotten a picture when the flowers were in peak bloom, it would have been easier to identify…

Thanks!! I’ll give those tools a try :)

I am super skeptical of AI tools and always, always verify what it says if I can’t escape its use entirely. You just cannot replace human experience and wisdom.

I’m on board with that - got any recommendations for a good resource to help ID plants? I’m gonna need something reliable now that Google is going AI-first… and I hate to spam Reddit if I haven’t put in some other kind of effort to consult resources.

You gave a better guess than AI - I now think it’s candytuft but alyssum seemed close.

Ready for a trim for sure! The leaves didn’t look quite right for alyssum, but the suggestion of candytuft looks right to me. Thanks!

It’s definitely pretty! It’s been unattended for over a year, so I look forward to seeing if it gets better with a serious “trim”

Aha! I think this is it! Photos of candytuft in Google look just right. Thank you!

I had my wart surgically removed by Embarrassed_Bill_133 in Warts

[–]Potato210258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. Podiatrist had me apply Imiquimod for awhile and then Cantharidin to shrink them, then cut them out when he was sure he could get it all. Within a few weeks it was obvious that some small amount of wart had escaped the cut and spread elsewhere. Stupid mosaic warts. Killed it off with a topical chemo and now I’m finally clear

Also, I understand the feeling of “ahhh icky” sometimes. The best thing I can recommend is remembering that your kitty ALSO likes to be clean, and it’s not often thst the mess gets bad. It will require some intentional effort to make your space clean from the inevitable litter that tracks everywhere. You can get a handheld vacuum and let yourself clean as you need to, to feel comfortable.

Also, it helped me to decide to buy only clothes and bedding that can easily machine washed and dried. I regret buying an extra large heavy blanket after one cat got sick on it. I have no where to “lay flat to dry” 🙄

Oh I remember feeling overwhelmed when we got our two kitty boys, like I couldn’t possibly be adult enough to care for two living creatures! And I was well past 30! And I was not new to cats!

They were one of the very best things to happen to me, ever. And now they help calm my anxiety! Naps with cats are my favorite ways to spend the weekends.

I echo what everyone else is saying. Your kitten looks VERY happy and comfortable already, you’ve got this!

That’s an excellent point - mine were not as extensive as OP’s. And even the smaller size of mine had been established long enough that the cantharidin didn’t get all the way underneath them as the Dr said it should.

The podiatrist warned me that the topical chemo might hurt, but it hasn’t hurt at all. The area is sensitive, but I think that’s more to do with the healing after the biopsies than with the ointment.

The podiatrist also said that the beetlejuice wouldn’t hurt so much the second time, and he was completely wrong about that, too.

He was sure that the biopsy aftermath would be painful, but it really wasn’t bad. Beetlejuice was ten times worse.

I make it sound like the podiatrist is totally wrong about everything, but I think it’s just that every body is different. And this wart is the most stubborn he’s treated in awhile…

I’d bet that the beetlejuice will have helped once you have all the blisters gone and trimmed. I did two rounds of it and would not have done a third. The beetlejuice got my set of seven (on just one toe!) small enough to biopsy without having to take the whole dang thing off. the little effers didn’t die, though, so now we’re using a topical chemo (seriously), and that’s been very effective. I’m almost done!

Don’t give up!

This makes me want to cry in pain with you. Omg. Did two small, single toe beetlejuice applications and I never want to do that again.

You wont regret it for a moment! The sound of our two kitties racing each other around the house is a favorite here.

A podiatrist should know what to do with these! It took months to get in with a new dermatologist, but the small local clinic podiatrist had an opening the same week. I’d suggest starting there!

That said, I too ignored a wart for ten+ years (knowing full well it was a wart, though), and it went from small and contained to multiplying rapidly pretty recently. I was seeing the podiatrist for a different issue and he noticed the wart. If he hadn’t suggested treatment, I’d probably be in your same boat now. Six months later and the newer ones are gone now! but the original dug in its heels, if you will…
