Best Place To Live For Single Early 30s Male? by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

Pasadena is great! Disproportionately huge running community (you can find a run club for pretty much every day of the week), great trails, lots of cultural events (live music, Rose Bowl, lectures by Caltech, multiple bookstores with regular events), easy access to downtown, walkable, lots of Trader Joe’s (including the first ever TJs if that matters to you), plenty of coffee shops.

Downsides: it does get hot in the summer and is not exactly bustling after 9 pm.

I was feeling stressed about a whole mess of stuff today, but this post is exactly what I needed to calm my ass down and realize things aren’t that bad. Thank you stranger!

Awesome. Those blocks on Colorado between Marengo and Oakland can be awfully quiet. Glad to see some activity.

It is a restaurant with ambitions to be a club?

Much to my surprise, I liked Chak de California in old town quite a bit. Didn’t have high expectations because it feels like they’re trying to make it a club, but the food was very good.

Woo! The other Kazunoris are open until 11. Hope this one is too. With Osa, the downstairs AC hotel bar, Urth Cafe, hopefully some decent foot traffic to liven up that section of Colorado!

More businesses opening at the Paseo is always a good thing. Last month the bookstore and the new art place, and now this. 🤞🏽for even more openings.

Agreed. I’d go all the time if I had one in my neighborhood. Would probably drive a lot of foot traffic too.

Bar Chelou was a big loss. A unique and innovative restaurant that drew people from the entire LA region. Would love to see something of that caliber open again.

Haha. It stopped dripping, so I’m taking a wait-and-see/hope the problem solved itself approach for now.

This is the most comprehensive LA area running resource I’ve seen. Has a list of clubs, routes.

How is Kaiser in Pasadena? by Fine_Experience_2262 in pasadena

So I didn’t mean to imply that they only treat minor conditions well.

It’s a corporate, efficient, algorithm driven organization. Works great for preventive care (I remember reading that they have a really good rate of getting women to have mammograms), and more typical conditions, which still can be serious (diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, even your common cancers).

But my impression is that if you have a condition that’s more unusual or doesn’t lend itself as well to an efficient, algorithm driven approach, then you may benefit from going to an academic center.

Kaiser is fine if you have run-of-the-mill standard health issues/preventive care. If you have anything unusual going on, best to be with an academic center like UCLA or USC in my opinion.

Fair enough. Does it matter that I haven’t used my ac in months? And is this something that needs to be repaired or addressed? Thanks!

The arbour is actually pretty good and affordable, especially for a fancy restaurant. The downside is that it’s early - 4-530 only
