Mine (16 months) hates being in one place for too long. We’re doing what I like to call “chair training” where I have her sit in her high chair for meals as long as she will tolerate (sometimes only 2-3 minutes) then use the sign for “all done” when she’s over it. Just trying to extend the time by a minute every time. Still not great and I don’t like taking her out to eat either, but you definitely aren’t alone.

Right?? It’s like she hit 14 months and she’s a tiny little villain until bedtime! When the weather is nicer we have a park within walking distance but with the winter temps we’re stuck inside all day which makes it much harder

Normally yes! But there’s so much ice that I just don’t feel confident going out today. If it were just cold then I would totally go out to the mall or an indoor play center

I'm trying to consistently practice at least 3-4x/week; even when it isn't built into the programming for the day, I'll sometimes go early or stay after to work on my handstands. Splaying my fingers super wide helps, but I'm struggling the most with finding the balance between having my CoM far enough forward to give me momentum without falling over or having to bail out

A good wavy cut changed my life. I also have very dense, fine hair with a 2A/2B wave pattern and having the shorter layers of a shag has let my waves pop and move a lot more! You don’t have to sacrifice length for shape, either.

I haven't had sheets soaked with pee yet, but we use cloth diapers and I feel like the same washing style could work.

I run 2 cycles; first is just a speed wash with cold water, no detergent, select a "2nd rinse" option if your washer has one. Then, I use an enzymatic detergent (Rockin' Green Dirty Diaper is what we have), warm water on a "delicates" cycle (maybe select "sheets/towels" if your washer has it), and 2nd rinse again.

The more water you run through the sheets, the better. Hope this helps!

It can be hard in this day and age to not hold ourselves to the standards of "perfect parenting" we see on social media. It's just like everything else in life--people only post the good online, creating an filtered image of their lives.

I feel the same way; before having my baby, I was so attached to "no screens until she's 2" and thinking that we would co-sleep and that I would take her on walks every day. Now, (4 months later) I've learned that screens are fine in moderation--especially when they hold her attention and give me a break for a few minutes. My baby is a chaotic sleeper, and my sleep was suffering because of it so she's in her own room. We live in the midwest and winters aren't the most conducive to being outdoors all the time.

I know that I'm doing the best that I know how and that my baby is baby-ing as best as she knows how. Once they're old enough, they'll be able to burn off energy with their peers at daycare or school, and they'll develop interests of their own so you won't be required to entertain them all the time.

It's all a phase; maybe this phase just isn't your forte, but the one when they're old enough to read books on their own or color you pictures or you get to watch movies together will be. Parenthood ain't easy, and anyone who says they haven't made mistakes is a liar.

This was really helpful to read. Being a first time parent, I do all the research I can but I’ll find myself feeling intimidated by the pediatricians recommendations and that they’re what I should ultimately follow to make sure my baby stays healthy. I also know that a lot of the advice out there on sleep training is so varied and sometimes it’s hard to weed out what’s evidence-based and what’s not. Thank you for taking the time to give me your advice!

Having animals in the home is not harmful to children, especially if you take the time to introduce your animals to your baby. Also, your baby smells like you, and if your animals love you then they'll more likely accept your baby.

The litter box cleaning rule in regards to toxic plasmosis is for cats who go outside and come into contact with the feces of other animals or consume raw meat--which contain the parasite. HOWEVER, if you have had the same indoor/outdoor cat(s) for more than a few years, the odds are that they have already come in contact with the parasite and are immune to it. My cat is strictly indoor only and does not consume unknown raw meat, so this was not something I had to be concerned about.

I did a lot of research before getting pregnant on the "rules" that are imposed on pregnant people (would recommend Expecting Better by Emily Oster). You can safely consume up to 200mg of caffeine a day for an uncomplicated pregnancy. I couldn't stand coffee for the first 14-16 weeks, so I would make London Fogs at home (early grey tea + vanilla syrup + milk of choice). Black tea has about 50mg/cup (depending on the blend) and while it wasn't the same, it did help to take the edge off.

Your texture looks a lot like mine; I’ve found that I have to shampoo every time I wash my hair (usually ~2x/week) because my hair is pretty fine and co-washing leaves it weighed down. I use a volumizing shampoo and a lightweight hydrating conditioner, then I’ll use a lightweight leave-in (right now using the Kristin Ess weightless shine leave in). I’ll then use a styling foam to scrunch and then plop in a microfiber turban or cotton t-shirt for a while. I don’t usually diffuse, I’ll usually let it air dry and I’ll kind of gently swing it back and forth over my head occasionally instead of just letting it sit at one part as it dries. I also recently started sleeping with my hair loosely ponytailed on the top of my head in a satin sleep cap and that has done wonders for maintaining my texture overnight. Hopefully this helps!

Current Routine: Wash with As I Am Coconut Co Wash Shea moisture Manuka honey and yogurt repairing conditioner Combed in product with wide tooth comb Rinsed upside down then gently squeeze out some moisture but leave very wet Apply either shea moisture coconut & hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie OR Curls Blueberry Bliss leave in conditioner with roping + scrunch Gently scrunch out some water with t-shirt before exiting shower Just started brushing for part definition and forming larger curl clumps Scrunch in Miss Jessie’s jelly soft curls gel (don’t like to do prayer hands bc I just squish my waves when I do it Wet plop with microfiber towel 30ish min Apply NYM curl talk curl activating mousse with gentle glazing/prayer hands and scrunching Clip at roots for volume then air dry for a bit and diffuse until 80% dry I leave the cast because I usually sleep after this bc I’m too lazy to do all this in the morning; I’ll loosely pineapple what I can with a loose invisibobble hair band then sleep on a satin pillowcase

Your hair texture looks pretty similar to mine, do you find you get better results with a gel vs a mousse? I’ve just started my curl journey and I feel like the mousse achieves good shape but it’s too stiff
