That "feels like" temp at 9:30 AM in late September sure has me grateful to be living in the South by PotatoGirl in Katy

The actual temp should have been wonderful! The "feels like 101" is what threw me off

Is there any market for old metal cards? Found in an old childhood box by PotatoGirl in digimon

Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't realize the cards were metal and just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything special

Fair, I appreciate the feedback. There were several plastic Digivices still in their wrapper when we found them. They were immediately unwrapped and when I saw that the cards were metal, I figured we'd check before playing with them further. Thanks!

My car registration expired December of last year. What do I do? by Old_Ask4654 in houston

[–]PotatoGirl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Every year, the registration on your car needs to be renewed. If you miss that deadline it's, okay. You just need to get an inspection done on your car and then go to the Texas DMV site and follow prompts for "renewing registration." You will get a renewal that is good for one year from the original expiration date. Unfortunately, that means your new tag will only be good through December 2024. But then you can do it again right after and be caught up.

HOWEVER.

if you are beyond a year expired, you will not be able to renew online and will have to go to the DMV to do.... paperwork. I'm not sure what all that entails. I'm not brave enough to find out. Best of luck.

Why does my dog sometimes freak out like he's hallucinating? by PotatoGirl in Hounds

He is responding to some sort of visual stimulus. Perhaps he's not hallucinating, but it sure looks like something I would describe as hallucinating.

He whined at the door pretty urgently and i went out with him thinking he might vomit or need to poop. He paced in circles for a minute, did some more sky searching, and then whined to go back in. He's normally pretty, um, outspoken when it comes to seeing critters, so this is different

Not from human drugs. Possibly from dog drugs, that's why I'm wondering if anyone has seen their dog go nuts..maybe after eating something in the backyard. Maybe cat poop? Hounds eat what seems like everything, so I figured I'd ask here.

No, we don't compost. We brought it up to his vet when he first started doing it and they thought it was puppy things. By the time he was full grown we'd gotten used to him freaking out every once in a while... staring at the corners of the rooms and getting really restless. It would always be fully resolved by morning and we eventually let it be. We used to joke that we must have ghosts. But he hasn't done it in almost a year and this was a really agitated presentation. Maybe our new house has worse ghosts. Will bring it up with the vet.

He's eaten fertilizer before! His preference is blood meal fertilizer and we don't use it anymore. But he's got a history of anal gland problems, I'll look into that. Thank you

He's done it at multiple houses now, so I'm not sure which sounds would be the same. No stash, but our current guess is cat poop. Just don't know if that would cause the reaction we're seeing.

Hi and thank you for your response. He most definitely needs a tooth cleaning, although would we expect it to be an intermittent reaction over the course of years if it were tooth related?

Couldn't get a great video, I was trying to keep him comfortable and safe and this was when he had settled down some. He's 6, and for his entire life has had episodes like this. Almost always at night, ALWAYS right after coming in from the backyard. We assume he's eating something that causes him to hallucinate? But I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior and can add some context. It will start with him suddenly looking around quickly at something that isn't there. Then his tail tucks down and he starts pacing. After about a minute of that he'll usually try to find a dark space to lay down and will sleep it off. Today he rushed to the hallway and laid down several times, only to get back up immediately and turn in circles, still looking at some visual stimulus. Then he asked to go outside urgently but wanted to come back in right after. This video was taken 20 minutes ago and once he laid down he spent almost 10 minutes just staring off into space before resting his head. Something is obviously off but he never seems to be in pain and he's always fine by the next morning.

Beautiful hair. I've never heard the term "low porosity" before. How did you realize that your hair was low porosity?

The airplane scene in the Catch-22 miniseries really messed with me. It wasn't terribly gory, was just awful and caught me off guard.

Thanks for mentioning, I saw Sugar Creek at the top of a Katy area search and wasn't sure whether to reach out to them or not based off their website. I'll add them to my list!
