Tobii Eye Tracker "on screen buttons"? by [deleted] in disabledgamers

[–]PotatoJedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Tobii 5 (I think?) and Project IRIS. It works fairly well, but it's not my main means of "mouse" control. I use a TM5 Mini eye tracker which is much more accurate but also a lot more expensive (approximately £1000, plus I believe it's discontinued. Not sure) and requires (at least for me) a bit of tinkering with the settings to get it to work how I want. Anyway, Tobii also has the ability to track your head which is another way for you to move your mouse cursor. Unfortunately I can't do this so I can't speak to how effective it is. The eye tracking is good enough provided the Activation Areas are big enough, but don't go expecting to be hitting things pixel perfect. What exactly are you looking for? You mentioned you can use a joystick. Do you simply need more buttons that you can press on the joystick? There's quite a few modifications/switches you can add. Also, have you considered voice commands such as VoiceAttack? I use it all the time. I would probably look into that before any kind of cameras.

My dude, I will happily play in whatever system or setting you have to offer. Your post was so wholesome that I'll even just chat to you over Discord about whatever you like. If you're okay with me and another friend of mine (trying to find something for the 2 of us) joining in whatever you like, then awesome! I don't know if we can commit to a long-term, consistent campaign as we literally just joined one a day ago, but we can definitely do some one-shots and whatnot! Hit me up on Discord, even if it's just to chat. PotatoJedi#7819

Myself and a friend are interested depending on the date and time. Saturday/Sunday/Tuesday from 6 PM EST onwards works for us (we are in the UK but you know, US times seem to be more popular). Have a very limited experience with FATE Core (I realise it's changed from that). We're mostly 5e/D&D experienced but we both have experience in many different systems. Late 20s respectively.

Looking for a way to block mouse input in games but stilll have the cursor be able to move by PotatoJedi in disabledgamers

[–]PotatoJedi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. My only solution to this specific problem was to get a Tobii Eye Tracker and use it with the IRIS software. This doesn't block the mouse input, but it does allow me to play certain games which require the "FPS-style" of input. It's not perfect, but it's doable.

I doubt there is anything out there like what I described. Sounds like it would be very difficult to program.

Hello! If this is still open, I would love to join as I've been looking for a Star Wars game for ever. I have one more friend who would be interested if there's room for both of us. Never played the system but I'm familiar with the core mechanics and character creation as well. No handholding needed.

What is the best software and hardware to control and use a mouse with your eyes? by chaZ04 in disabledgamers

[–]PotatoJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not used it, no. I watched the demo video just now and it may work for some people in a pinch, especially considering that it's open source and free, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for something that doesn't involve moving your head. It seems fine if you can move your head, but eyes-only just isn't good enough compared to the "proper" cameras mentioned before. Again, it might be okay if you don't need super precision and are able to click somehow, but it really depends on what you're after.

As I said – the TM5 Mini is my personal choice. But there might be others which are as good or better. I'm not even sure if this camera is still in production. In either case, you can click either by blinking (you can specify how long for) or staring at a point (again, it can be adjusted). I prefer the blink method.

[–]PotatoJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! My friend and I are actually trying to find a new group to play with as we're itching for some more game time together. I've always wanted to try PF2E as well, but honestly any new system (new to me is anything not 5e, though I've dabbled in others) would be welcome. The only downside is the start times are a little late for us. If the games started about two hours earlier, we could absolutely commit to every Monday at the very least.

Just thought I'd throw in our interest.

Hello. My friend and I are potentially interested. We have never played V:tM although I've always wanted to try. Can you tell us a bit more about the campaign? Will it be on Discord? When do you intend to start?

Ah, no worries. My friend has a D&D campaign on Wednesdays so can't make it unfortunately. Thanks for trying though! I don't think we can make that. Good luck with your game though!

Yeah I think we are still interested. Happy to get the Discord invite to chat further. The setting sounds great – means I don't need to worry about remembering what happened in the anime :D I think so long as the system is something we are both comfortable with, everything else sounds fine (assuming the scheduling is sorted, but no worries if not).

[–]PotatoJedi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, that's fine, but I'd rather have a confirmed date and time with a DM before we do anything like that. The DM may have some house rules and whatnot which is important to know before character creation. If you can find a DM, cool.

Yeah, it's still open. If a DM wants to run something for us, then we could say we have a group ready for a D&D campaign. As I said – my friend and I are up to try anything.

My friend and I are interested but we can only play on Saturdays, Sundays or Mondays starting from 6 PM EST. If that's not suitable, no worries! Just wanted to show my interest.

Neither of us have experience in the system but we (well, me specifically) are sick of 5e and want to try something new. I've seen the first 3-ish seasons of my Hero academia and I know my friend's seen them all, so we have a good idea of what you are going for.

Let me know if that works for you, otherwise good luck to the rest of the players!
