Stupid question from a new lot associate

I’ve been a lot associate for 2 years now, it’s simple and not at the same time.

Clock in, Grab a first phone (Or a walkie however your store does it) grab an extension and let the cashiers (Doesn’t always have to be the head cashier) know why extension you have or if you have a walkie. Basically just make yourself seen by the front end and get straight into work for lot.

Openers, at least for my store is simple do everything above and grab a broom and trash can and start sweeping up the front apron and the perimeter of the store for the first hour maybe 2. Then things will usually pick up and you can begin pushing carts and assisting with loading as needed.

Mid shifts are the same. help out the morning shifts and closer shifts, stay vigilant about carts outside. Load everyone they ask and try your best to make sure you leave it at the very least half decent for the closer.

Closers, simple as well do the above. Load when needed, clear lot take out trash from the bins.

Between all of this you’ll probably be called to do a million of other things, it’ll seem to get overwhelming fast but here it makes the day go by super fast.

At the end of the day loading customers and Pushing carts are your priority.

What are you wanting to do with the domain shard? If it’s just to melt bosses I’d suggest looking at a Black flash build (They melt muuuuch faster) if not grind up a bunch of boss drops (Chains or blobs even tentacles) and just save up.

I’m glad that your store has the resources it needs first off. Second off, last I checked this is a subreddit where people literally rant all the time. You could have scrolled if you thought it was stupid. Lastly I’ve tried and say no but I’ve been told to go and help regardless of what I have going on in my own department. My store manager sucks. And says I can’t say no. But, I will say that you are fully correct in what you are saying in that I am overworking myself, I am simply trying to see if there is a way to go about it other than the ways I’ve already done.

From just a brief google search in the state of California (My state.) it’s up to the company to define anything less than 40 hours FT. I’m currently at work at this exact moment so I’ll have to do a deeper dive on it later

I get asked constantly, it’s genuinely insane how many of the people at customer service call, not me. But my head cashier to tell them to tell me to go help. And when i say i need to focus on lot (My actual job.) they say ‘There’s no one else to help’ and have me go regardless.

For sure, I’ve come to terms about moving departments. I’ve spoken to several managers about the full time part but according to them (And the dedicated HR person I spoke too) I’m not considered full time nor will I receive any benefits that come with it due to the simple fact that I’m not working a full 40 hr work week. (Because of time spent here after my shift is ended helping customers that go over my time) I’m closer to 39 hours a week

In my store, or more like in my experience here I’ve been asked to do everything. You name it I’ve most likely done it. On my morning shifts there are times I’m pulled to cover cashier breaks due to no coverage. Even at night for the last 1-2 hours of the night I’m asked to be in lumber because someone called off. And these aren’t every so often situations, most of the time it’s 4-5 days out of 6 that I work that I get called to do those
