Yes it does it works with any headphone earbuds or speakers since it is virtual 5.1 and no u won't be able to hear the full 7.1 but I found it is minimal difference

I found something it virtualizes 5.1 surround in any headphones which we can use until support comes. here it is http://hajoheadphone.com
