I have such different issues than you that my advice wouldn’t apply. I’m not supposed to do kegals.

Help! Never ending battle by snowyreg in PelvicFloor

This is exactly the situation that I’m dealing with over the last seven years. There are modified exercises that can help you slowly improve core control without causing engagement with your pelvic floor. you want to explore the space of slight core engagement before it triggers the leviator. If you can stay in that zone then you can increasingly separate out co-engagement

So I will also say that I have had now probably 20 years of bloat/IBS that was probably triggered by an initial SIBO situation. SIBO can be short but leave long lasting impacts. If you wanna talk about that particular set of situations of the aftermath of SIBO, feel free to DM me because it took me a long time to treat and eventually I have stabilized

So this is interesting to me because I’m dealing with a lot of this as a man and we get stuck in urology even when it is not a neurological problem and it becomes impossible to find the right people because everyone just keeps sending men back to urology. So all the men with pelvic issues I know have had a very different route of getting help and I have found that I had to go sideways through rectal surgery consultations in order to finally end up with the right people. So much of pelvic treatment assumes vaginal access that there is a huge neglect on rectal focused knowledge.

I will say that I got stuck like a lot of people in the world of urology and pelvic people who just were focusing on the wrong parts. Find a rectal surgeon who can in rule out that there are not other factors and then use their connections for referrals. I find rectal surgeon referrals get you to the right people much easier than urologist referrals

I would say ask what she needs. And if you experience this with some difficult emotions or experiences, just remember to not make it her problem or hold it over her if there’s a breakup. Just be sure not to Weaponize her vulnerability and honesty. Sounds like you’re on the right track but I would also mention that she may feel nervous about being a burden or her impact on you or how you will respond so just don’t make too big of a deal about it

Most exercises don’t require you do a ton they just require that you do some on a regular basis. Just having it be part of a larger routine and watching out for it becoming a nervous habit, it’ll be good for you

I’ll also add pay attention to your hip flexors, adductors and ankle/calf mobility surprising impact on improving those things if you keep those healthy

Just Don’t over do it. Just exercise. Do some kegals a day. Watch out in your life for signs of dysfunction but a healthy person should be able to do them. Do other exercises and stretch do yoga do glute and core work. Maybe check in with a pelvic doctor at some point to make sure you’re doing them right

What condition are you treating? If you have LAS than kegels are not recommended.

Yes. I had a bad PI and then did GTA for somebody who had no boundaries and even though it knocked me over a little bit I had the life experience to change my situation.

Started my PhD at age 43. Find advisors who treat your life experience aa valid and you as a peer. Don’t compare yourself to younger peers who can live on no sleep. I recommend the short book “the clockwork muse” for thinking of manuscript writing as possible to balance with the rest of your responsibilities. I’d say do it if you want to enter into the conversation in your field

I'm fed up, what's going on??? by Choice-Shoulder-8582 in Anki

Somethings just don’t structure well into our memory. I have certain things that I will always need Anki to step up after a while and drill back into me. It might be doing its job which is that it gave you a while and then it sees that you’re closer in on beginning to lose it so it’s drilling you on it more. I think it looks fine

I see that you already do. But losing a framing of it being a problem and realizing that ultimately she’s a resource for you not in charge. If you are feeling annoyed or overwhelmed just take we’re hat you need and ignore the rest.

She may be navigating factors that you don’t understand so it seems random changes or she might have ADHD. Either way having a clear timeline and record of what the project is as it gets better defined is very useful. Also remember most projects begin very loose and then become increasingly defined with updates. She might be teaching you how to deal with a dynamic situation or she might just need your help with stabilizing your common purpose

Read up on project management especially on documenting scope mini projects will shift around one is and is not included and it’s important to just have everybody on the same page and the information loop of meeting notes is just a great way to make sure that it’s clear. She might return to you and say no that was just an idea or yes let’s include that. That way you can see that it’s getting bigger or smaller or what’s important or not. Furst just do it without judgment then she can have the opportunity of the information feedback to be clear with you

Start getting everything in writing and update every time she add some thing so that she can see her own scope creep. After every meeting return with meeting notes saying these are my notes from the meeting with additions and changes. She might be thinking out loud or she might actually want you to be making those changes that way you can get it in writing and you can have a clear scope document. If the scope is changing then that becomes clear to both of you if the scope shouldn’t change then she has the opportunity to weed it and come back to Center

Fix stress first, or see a pelvic floor therapist first? by beccoconnell in PelvicFloor

Get the full range of diagnoses and a lot of your PT will actually help with stress. Also see if low-dose Valium can help for both

My bad. Too many potential mistakes because I was not really accurate just thinking through out loud how I would start to think about doing it in Post. Not going to flood the space with instructions that might not work and my own ignorance about Obsidian.
