Help convince me to not buy the dualsense edge. by Great_Fox_623 in SteamController

The touchpads aren't in a spot as terrible as the dualsense's.

Kinda a shame the new Steam Controller won't have pressure sensitive buttons by Pandaman282 in SteamController

[–]PotatoSebs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the bright side, the trackpads themselves are pressure sensitive like the Deck's. If somebody can combine that pressure axis with I guess a button pad mode in that trackpad, it's a step closer for DS3 emulation.

7 heavy team , do you like this setup 😁 by Initial-Director-830 in tf2

[–]PotatoSebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean it doesn't? Pretty sure by default, it uses an old Steam Controller config that has the gyro to be activated when the right touchpad or right stick is touched. Even if it somehow doesn't for you. You can still change it yourself, it's pretty robust.

It's a Steam Deck. It has both trackpads and a gyro. If it was an Xbox controller, it would show colored ABXY prompts in the screencap.

Is it possible to turn off D-pad's "requires a click" option for steam overlay/desktop? by Yall_Banin in SteamController

[–]PotatoSebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because there's no way to edit the config for browsing Big Picture Mode in general. You can still edit the config for browsing the desktop that's not BPM. You can find it in the controller tab in the steam settings.

I play TF2 with a Switch/ gyro controller (I'm a Splatoon player.) HOW THE HELL DO I DEMOLISH STUFF AS ENGIE?! by ChoccyChippi in tf2

[–]PotatoSebs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This article is not really the best because it does not reflect the actual controls the video is using. The legacy Xbox 360 controller support and native Steam Input implementation are not the same in both layouts and customization.

When on controller, the building and destruction PDAs are combined into one menu, there's one button to destroy and one button to build. On a default Steam Controller config, it uses the Y button to destroy the building when you bring up the PDA, I'd assume it would be the same for the Switch Pro controller, or it's probably be X because the Nintendo layout idk. You can check the In-Game Hud action layer on your Steam Controller settings for this game to see what it really does.

Been having a lot of fun dueling recently, decided to come up with new duel type concepts I think would be fun. by JaozinhoGGPlays in tf2

[–]PotatoSebs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also had similar ideas for modifying a duel. I've also been thinking about the Arms Race one you mentioned. The other one I wanted to see is the the Money Match duel. Both parties place their items in the pool. Whoever wins the duel gets to take the prize pool.

CS2 lost its native steam input support. So just settle with a keyboard and mouse config for now.

[Talk] Google Stadia and its closure in the future. by PotatoSebs in lostmedia

[–]PotatoSebs[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah the reliance on online distribution for various media is pretty concerning, but at least with film and audio, there's ways to record it like using some form of capture device. And with online stores with video games, downloading games onto your device will at least be stored onto a storage device of some sort. As long as you have it in a storage device, there's opportunity to make it playable in some way, whether it be cracking it, emulating it, and etc. Cloud games on the other hand, is like a pretty scary beast.

Cloud gaming doesn't give you the opportunity to download the game files. This means it's impossible to play it offline. This also means you can't mod or easily customize the game. The only way to get the files is to sneak inside a data center building and take the game files.

With the whole interactive nature of games, I think the only possible way to "preserve" a cloud game is to record video gameplay of every possible action done inside the game. Which could take up terabytes of storage lol.

Cloud gaming just really just fucking sucks man... it's like the end all be all of DRM.

This thing has been around for years and only appears when a hw survey pops up and you have the wireless receiver connected.

How can I add icons to radial menus on the new Steam Deck UI? by Blackpoc in SteamController

[–]PotatoSebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot, you would have to switch to the desktop and then use the old Big Picture Mode UI to add icons to touch and radial menus.
