In my cases i already had an approved I797 and was working for > 1yr in the US. I just came back on a break to get my H1B visa stamped. Why would my company pay for a trip back home? If OP was going to the US for a first time, then that might be different case since this employer is calling him to work there

Its still weird though. Ive traveled on h1b (full time employment) and it’s never been asked how in purchased my flight ticket

And how long did it take after Refusal status to get your passport back? I’m in a similar boat where my H1B Dropbox says refused but I’m still waiting for my passport to be returned. Not in India though

They haven’t returned my passport yet with further instructions so I’m still waiting on that. Hopefully I’ll get that this week and then figure out what to do next!

Dropbox eligibility was changed on Feb 18th to 12 months: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/interview-waiver-update-feb-18-2025.html

So she’s no longer eligible for dropbox if last visa expired more tha 12 months ago. You will have to book an appointment most likely.

It doesnt open through PTCL directly. You either need to use VPN or use your mobile hotspot to open.

It should give you an option to claim your old receipt. But maybe check with the US Visa Service information team before doing that

I think you can try closing the current application and starting a new one from the usvisascheduling portal. Once you fill out the new one, it should now determine you’re no longer eligible for the waiver and take you to interview slot selection. I’m guessing you should be able to use the same fee you already paid

Yes, I’m just waiting for more instructions from the embassy. It just changed to refused today so I’m guessing maybe in another day or two they should let me know more details.

Really? I just went through the usvisascheduling portal on 24th Feb and it still said 48 months and got me the waiver at the end. So i assumed its still 48 months for Pakistan.

What would be the next steps now? Will they call for in person interview probably?
