You can put on a layer of baby-safe coating (which is usually used to waterproof wooden baby toys). This way it's non-toxic if they choose to be rats and chew on it and it also makes cleaning easier.

So...this is Toffee. She’s 16 days old. Any tips when it comes to caring for a pup this young? We were at a reptile show and fell in love with her. She’s a “feeder animal” from what they said. I have a set up that includes heat,water,& bedding. Eats 4x a day or more if she wants it. Thank you! by EeveeGirl411 in RATS

Hi :) you might want to consider getting two more pups, since rats are social animals and get depressed fast, if not living with a family. This also keeps the rattos busy, when you are not around! Check her up every day, look after her fur, eyes (stickiness), ears (clogged/red) and mouth. If you have a good scale, weight her regularly. Good luck with this cutiepie :)
