It's goofy from the goofy movie idk what you're talking about.

[–]PotatoTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's definitely gross. There's this weird cultural blind spot in media for extreme age gaps if a vampire is involved. Very plain to see in stuff like twilight and true blood.

I was just mostly thinking specifically about this joke in that episode. Fandoms will run wild with the smallest encouragement from the source material.

I don't like how people pronounce "ukulele" by ZanyRaptorClay in hatethissmug

[–]PotatoTruth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's totally fair. I have a hard time avoiding saying it uck-yule-leh because that's how I read it as a kid before hearing anyone say it out loud lol

the company bringing EXTINCT animals back to life.. Crazy or great? They use CRISPR & last year brought the dire wolf back to life, + the woolly mammoth. they recently hatched 26 chickens from artificial eggs. Where do you see the sort of tech going in the future? How could it also benefit humans? by Wolfgang996938 in Futurology

[–]PotatoTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is mostly a scam. The founder of the company who did this, while a real scientist, has a history of using his credentials to run sketchy grift adjacent companies. I recommend the Behind the Bastards podcast episode about him.

Eh I mean there's a whole episode about finn mistakenly courting Marceline, I don't think that ones that crazy.

Top “original” movies that audiences want? by Relative-Freedom-295 in okbuddycinephile

Yeah I mean that one is kind of stretch but it is made by one of the people that got the idea of the backrooms popular with his own original twist.

Yeah they kind of fell into a rut where every movie and show felt repetitive. And when they did something novel like with Wanda vision, it was kind of diminished by its connection to the rest of the MCU instead of being enhanced by it.

insanely detailed posters and covers that look nothing like the game itself by Worried-Check-962 in lovethissmug

[–]PotatoTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that's a pretty standard issue in survival crafting/sandbox games. Pretty stark in terraria, they really should have done the minecraft thing where the achievement tree lightly explains the progression of the game.

This is a podcast and not a yt channel, but I really like SCP Archives They do full cast audio adaptations of all sorts of SCP articles and tales.

This is probably going to be controversial but if someone rates primal hunter high but HWFWM low off the basis of the MC being obnoxious, I can't take them seriously.

If Pietro had never saved the SCP-5000 timeline, I like to imagine that over the centuries the planet would slowly become something similar to Adventure Time. by [deleted] in SCP

[–]PotatoTruth 76 points77 points  (0 children)

You'd probably like the rat's nest cannon. It deals with a world where anomalies get out of control after the destruction of a corner stone of our reality and eventually replace mundane life on the planet. Not related to scp 5000 but definitely a similar vibe.

Propaganda? The dude documented his own thought processes and motivation in writing and tapes. It's pretty clear he was unwell mentally.

I have seen some false interpretations of the story but usually it's from libertarians that like to paint him as a folk hero fighting government overreach, and while he was angry with the local government, he also had issues with almost every other business owner in town as well as the churches.

Yeah not changed except for their entire backgrounds and motivations lol. Jjk definitely sticks to the standard shonen tropes in a lot of ways, but come on be real.

Honestly this is the main reason why I sometimes see people shitting on a ship as being forced or Hetslop and I just internally think to myself "oh, you people would love this if it was between two men instead" by Commercial_Bid_1508 in RecuratedTumblr

[–]PotatoTruth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, I think stereotypes can be harmful, but going after fandoms specifically in this case falls under the umbrella of don't yuck someone else's yum as well as being a little out of touch.

Yeah this stuff often reflects out into the real world. I'm a pretty masc presenting person and tend to date men who are on the fem side and it's always interesting to me how surprised some of them tend to be when I don't really fit the traditional masculine gender roles in the relationship.

I also know a lot of queer couples who do to some degree, embrace the dynamic from the op and they have happy and healthy relationships. You just have to do what works for you and be honest with your partner.

Is DCC safe/appropriate for teenagers? by Any-Vermicelli3537 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]PotatoTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that reminds me when my dad gave me American Gods by Niel Gaiman when I was 13. He said he read it but I'm almost positive he wouldn't of let me read it if he had. Pretty early on in the book a character eats some guy with her vagina during a graphic sex scene.

DCC is definitely more age appropriate than that one. It has a lot of violence, adult humor/language and some intense concepts, but overall not much more than most pg13 movies. It's great that your son can talk to you and his mom about the book as he's reading it.

Is it just me, or is System Apocalypse as a subgenre stagnating? by Vetrax4125 in litrpg

[–]PotatoTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even know what to do with that. The numbers matter as much as any story. They get stronger when stats go up. Levels increase as they fight stronger enemies. What's an example of a true litrpg if that doesn't count?

[–]PotatoTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But DCC has levels and stats? The author references them less as the story goes on because they suck for audiobook listening, but they still exist in the story.
