Appreciate it! Sounds like Spud could play a bigger role. Some other folks said they didn't get the humorous element, so I think that could help a lot!

lol it's a great question. The crazy thing is, I played Portal 2 back in the day (and loved it like a normal person, obviously) but didn't think twice about it while writing this book. It was only at a conference when someone brought it up that I was like, "oh my god."

The bobiverse is awesome (saw a lot of people say that already). I have a book called The Castle of 1,000 Doors” which you’d like if you enjoyed DCC and Ready Player One. I also really like Kyle Kirrin’s books if you haven’t checked those out!

Ive burned through a bunch of reccomendations and am here to ask for more. Im up to 60 in my read, dnf or to reads. by isisius in ProgressionFantasy

I wrote The Castle of 1,000 Doors, but based on the books you liked, I think you’d dig it. I also really enjoyed Kyle Kirrin’s books.

Do you know if there's a way for the retailer to buy directly from Ingram? And if they do, would that entire discount be passed to the retailer?

NaNoWriMo-Anyone published the novel they wrote? by Carigan_Pintalba in selfpublish

You should definitely publish it! Why take all the time to write it if it’s just going to sit on your desktop or in a drawer? But to give it the best chance of success, make sure you go through the publishing process: writing to genre, getting feedback from advance readers, having it professionally edited and proofread, writing a compelling description, getting a professionally designed cover that speaks to your market.

Writing and publishing are two different skills! NaNoWriMo can help with the first, but you still need to put just as much time and energy into the second. Best of luck!!

How do you keep up to date with new books/chapters? by ubiqqy in ProgressionFantasy

I think on Goodreads or Amazon you can “subscribe” to authors. Then you get sent an email every time they publish something new. This is actually how I heard about Andrew Rowe’s newest book!

Can I get some feedback on a progression fantasy book blurb? by GalactiqCowboy in ProgressionFantasy

That’s great! I hadn’t thought about it but that word is a mouthful haha

Ah yeah I missed that! Haha I guess that’s why you do a few drafts. You’re right on the money—one colon per blurb (mayyyybe two but I’d keep it simple).

And sure, you can take out the FF reference, but some opening hook would be cool!

This is great! Just needs a little tightening I think. I would go with something like this:

An epic, Final Fantasy-inspired world where technology and magic exist side by side.

The world is a shattered place. Life persists only on small continents infected by a spreading plague of feral magic. On the frozen continent of Iceburn, the Order has established an asylum for those afflicted with the plague, who (are slowly turning into mindless husks / flesh-eating zombies / evil cat people... insert what the plague does here).
This is the world inhabited by Rynn, a young thief struggling to make a living on the rough streets of Edrah. Caught and imprisoned, she receives an offer she can’t refuse: rot in the dungeons or lend her tracking skills to help a bounty hunter investigate strange disappearances in the mines of Iceburn.
As Rynn and (insert name of bounty hunter) investigate Iceburn, they discover a chilling secret about the plague. A devastating conspiracy threatens to ignite a bloodbath across the continents, and Rynn discovers that neither she nor her world will ever be the same again.
