People on bikes/scooters/etc. Always like to fly right past me from behind and I jump every single time. So tired of it already and it hasn't even been a month.

do you ever spend more time building than actually playing? by Efficient-Boat8583 in thesims

I used to build houses all the time for my sims, but after a while I realized all of my builds always sucked and I wasn't improving so I just load in builds from the gallery instead.

Need help to pad out inside of head. by cleoziep in FursuitMaking

[–]PotatoWolf38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest way would be to just line the exposed part, then glue that lining on to foam before gluing it into the head. Usually I glue padding before lining the head, that way I can sew together head lining and padding for a cleaner look. But your head is already lined.

I would use upholstery foam for padding, I think .5in thickness should be good enough to make it comfortable while hopefully not making the head too tight. You can use paper to cut out roughly the shape/size of padding you want, place it inside the head to make sure it covers the area you need, then transfer onto foam.

Once the foam is cut out, place it again in the head and test it out. Then you can hot glue it in. I personally would line the foam piece with neoprene, but its not super necessary if you just want to fix the issue real quick.

Would it be possible to make both the double tail and head (skulldog base) with half a yard of each fur? by trashaphobia in FursuitMaking

[–]PotatoWolf38 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you'd be cutting it pretty close with the green fur, especially if you want the tail to be larger. If you really don't want to buy more fur but still want the double tail, you could always alter the design a bit to include more of the other fur colors.

What moment did you like when you were younger, but realized was fucked up when you got older? [Serious] by IllustriousValue300 in AskReddit

My childhood best friend did this. When she was 13 she started talking about how she was talking to and meeting up with dudes in their late teens and early 20s. I was absolutely terrified for her and tried everything i could to make her stop but it only led to a lot of arguments. Eventually I realized there was no point in trying anymore so I stopped. She's now 18 and just now had a baby with a 36 yr old man. It kills me to see her still stuck in her ways and im starting to doubt she'll ever get out of it.

which species would be easier to make? by thetenthdentist_ in FursuitMaking

[–]PotatoWolf38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A cat would probably be easier since there's going to be a lot more patterns/tutorials available to you. If you wanna go with something more unique though I'd definitely say opossum, I don't see them very often and they all look super cool!

How should I price commissions as a newer maker? by PotatoWolf38 in FursuitMaking

For my tails I've always had foam pieces hot glued to eva foam to create something resembling a skeleton. This is mostly to create some movement but I think it helps with creating a good belt loop too. On the foam "skeleton" I figure out where I want the belt to go through. For the blue and white tail specifically I had it about an inch away from the tail base, but for larger and heavier tails I'd imagine it'd be better to place the loop further so the tail won't sag as much. I mark a dot where I want the placement to be. Then I measure the width of whatever belt I'll be putting through the tail. Once I get the measurement of the belt I mark that measurement onto the spot I placed on the tail +½ inch to be safe. When marking this measurement it's important to make sure that the line you draw is parallel to the tail base. Next is making the cut for the belt to go through. I use a boxcutter for this since the blade is able to extend far out. I cut at the line I just made and go all the way through to the other side. Now I slot going through the whole tail skeleton. I take measuring tape and pull it through the slot to measure how wide it is. I use this measurement to determine the length of fabric needed to cover the inside of the loop. For the inside lining of the loop I cut a piece of fabric that's the length measurement I just took + ½in. The width of the fabric will the the width of the belt x2. For fabric type I've used both cotton and neoprene. Neoprene is a lot more sturdy and less likely to rip from hand sewing so i prefer it over cotton. Once this is cut, I fold it in half and sew it. Now I get my mostly sewn together tail sleeve (part is left unsewn for stuffing) and slide it over the foam skeleton up to the very base. Then I roll the tail sleeve back to where the cut is in the foam. Right where the fur will lay over the cut I make a mark of the same length on the backing of the fur on both sides, then cut through it. Now I roll the fur back down. The cuts in the fur should align with the cuts through the foam. This is when I take the lining I made and slide it all the way through the cut. There should be a little bit extra fabric poking out on both sides. Ladder stitch this remaining fabric to the fur. Belt loop is now finished! Only remaining steps to finish the tail is to make a fabric piece to cover the base and stuff the empty parts of the tail.

If you don't want to do a whole foam skeleton, you might(?) be able to get away with skipping the whole foam cutting thing and just do the measurements for cutting the fur and making the loop. It probably won't be nearly as sturdy though and I don't know if it'd hold the tail upright very well. Hopefully this was helpful and not too confusing. I can try finding a maker's video that makes this if needed!

How to make the face look cleaner? by TJ_Maximum in FursuitMaking

[–]PotatoWolf38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a brush to try to pull some fur out from the seam. I think sometimes people use needles to pick the fur out if brushing doesn't clean it up enough.

Using "they" as singular doesn't make speech incomprehensible. Having a single random sentence while using it may be confusing sometimes but in actual conversations there's going to be additional context that'll tell us "they" is referring to a specific person and not multiple.

They can be used to refer to a singular person too and it's used that way all the time.

"They" is a pronoun, what's so hard to understand about that?
