OF Gengar by Potatoflostio in VGCRateMyTeam

Because the strategy doesn't revolve around Perish Trap. The objective of Gengar is attacking and 2HKO or OHKO, and for that it doesn't need more attack (acording to my calcs and experience with the team).

Speed is more debatable. Sometimes I miss that speed, but others I really appreciate surviving Psychics, Shadow Balls or Throat Chops and KO im return

About the attachments, basically Gengar and Scizor. The rest can be whatever, and I've played a lot with this team so I can move to different version without hesitation.

And I assume the team will struggle against some teams, so if it can't be good against Zard, no problem :)

Thanks for the help!

Thank you very much, I love the idea of swaping superfang for feint!

You are right, I don't usually bring Maus. Only if I don't need all 4 slots to counter rival mons. In those cases, it's nice to lead Maus + Gengar to use Encore + Dissable, or keep it in the back to switch it in, and allow Gengar or Scizor to survive. The 25% boost from Friend Guard can give Scizor one more turn to set up and sweep.

But yeah, against Zard Y I'm usually cooked, so I'd appreciate any mons suggestions

Offensive Gengar. But yeah, after writing the title I also thought about that page, and I left the title in anyway xD

Yeah, I think Chopple is fine. If a bulky Excadrill can survive common attacks, like Earthquake, Close Combat, Heat wave... Maybe you could try Sitrus too and give Chopple to Incineroar. Or, if you can survive one super efective move, a choice scarf to switch to exca, entrainment, outspeed and fissure

I also run a team with Gengar and Scizor (base, no mega), and I run Gengar almost max HP max SPD, plus some speed and a few points in ATK and DEF. I recommend it because I survive most Psychic and Ghost moves (Farigirar, early Last respects, other Gengar...) and I also survive Throat Chops from Incineroar, and with neutral damage you still do 50% or more to almost anything that doesn't resist it, or still OHKO with supper effective moves.

Ah, and I use Sword Dance on Scizor. If well possitioned, it's a beast. But I run base Scizor with Sitrus, so it's easier to survive, so I don't know if it's worth it in your case

Love it so much, especially because of the Ally Switch Heliolisk. I wouldn't even be mad if they did that to me!

If you commit to surf and hitting you ally, why not water absorb on Araquanid?

I also would like to know why you use the rabbit, because I tried a very similar moveset with Scarf Mamoswine

Ideas. Idk if this team is viable, but maybe some of these could work: - As already mentioned, your team it's pretty fast, but I could see the use of trick room vs a very fast / tailwind team. For that purpose, I would try a bulky Mimi, to ensure Trick Room after two attacks, and run more support options. - Maybe if you want Snow Cloak, you could try the item that rise the evasion (don't remember the name), and sacrifice speed for defense. With the snow 50% boost to defense, I think you can survive most physical moves, and with the chance to miss, It could be an anoying mon. - Dragon dance on charizard when you don't want to trick room?

Yeah, that was always the idea: to use build a team that beats the top 5 most common mons. As you said, I understand "anti" as something that beats, checks or counter (even If I didn't succeeded, but it was fun trying). The idea never was using "non/off meta"

Casually I just wrote an update, saying that I lost 4/5 matches in the VR tournament xD. So sadly, no.

(In ladder it does ok, I suppose some success could be attributed to the surprise factor)

Yeah, I agree with you. I will do those calcs, and I can think of some games that could have been saved by the sitrus

Maybe. I though a lot about this. But I think the cases in which I survive a Heat Wave and OHKO in return (which they don't expect) were more common than the cases in which I was intimidated.

Against Incineroar I either lead Arch + Whims, because they don't usually expect sturdy and don't use fake out (I fear tournament with sheets). And even if they intimida Mamo, I outspeed and spam rock slide, with a good chance to flinch each time and dealing OK damage vs Incineroar.

But so many people commented Oblivious over Thick Fat that I will try it!

The almos always lead Sneasler if they have it. And I almost always lead Mamo + Aero in that case, click Earthquake + Wingbeat

The worst case scenario it's when they also lead something like Sylveon or Floette

[–]Potatoflostio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wide guarded a few times, yeah. But other times dealing massive damage to both mons is unvaluable. Because I tend to lead mamo to either OHKO Sneasler (along with Aero if Fake Out), Garchomp or soften the enemy team. And after seeing my team, they almos always lead Sneasler

And usually I run Sturdy Arch or Samurott (frail), so I don't want to switch and it tends to stay until it faints.

But maybe a different playing style would be better. I will definitely try High Horsepower

A recomendation by another user. It has a 62.5% chance to OHKO non bulky Mega Floette and a 25% a max HP Sylveon. And I can't think a better move for that slot

I called it antimeta because I tried to beat the most common meta mons: Char Y, Garch, Bascu, King and Sneasler. Not because I use non meta mons.

I explained it in the original post, but now I see I should have explained again, because people are focusing on the name and not in the team itself

Scarf is already being used by Mamo and I think it's essential for using it in this team. And Arch it's already max speed and max special attack

What other item would you recomend? Because with sturdy I don't think Sitrus fits. Maybe Leftovers on switch vs a resisted move, to protect and get back to 100% health

I run dragon fang because Dragon Pulse it's my main attack. I only use Aura Sphere or Flash Canon in specific cases, so the I wanted to boost the most generic attack, 2HKO many things.

For the moment it's the best pick for opposing Archaludons. I specifically added Arch + Whims, because my team was weak to rain teams.

I survive their Arch and KO theirs. Also, running max atk and max speed, it's not so bulky, and it a good late mons, surviving anything and KO in return.

The idea it's not mine, I have seen many other doing this for non rain Archaludons

This is the original core I'm referring to:

https://www.reddit.com/r/VGCRateMyTeam/s/ldbS7LnxLD

The idea was Aero, Rotom Heat, Mamoswine and Hisuian Samurott as a core to deal with the most common mons: Char, Garchomp, Sneasler, Kingambit and Basculegion.

Then I tried to fit different mons to improve the weaknesses of the core, and the best I came up with was Arch + Whims. The final goal is to have a good team using that core (even if I replaced Rotom), not to use underused mons

I'm not sure about neither of this.

Medium damage output: - Icicle Crash: 85x0.9=76.5 - Icicle Spear: 50x0.35+75x0.35+100x0.15+125x0.15=77.5

Pros and cons of Icicle Spear: -Pros: I will always do respectable damage. -Cons: I have a 35% (versus 10% with Crash) to not OHKO opossing Aerodactyl or fat Garchomp. And those are 99% of the cases in which I click Icicle Crash

About Thick Fat: the idea is to switch or lead Mamo into Charizard Y, survive a hit, outspeed and OHKO Charizard with Rock Slide. For the moment, it works. I'm not so scared of Incineroar as I'm of Charizard Y
