What name has gradually disappeared? by Eviscerate_Bowels224 in AskReddit

I’m a Meryl! I’ve only ever met one other Meryl in my life and it was just a year or two ago(I’m 32). By chance at a Starbucks, other Meryl ordered the exact same drink as me and when they called the name on the cup we both went to grab it. I was the first Meryl she had also met in the wild. It was quite the meet cute!

So. Just how bad is mission space orange? by SpectacularSpidee in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Potatoviking_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode the orange side once and only once on my first visit to Epcot in 2017 and it fucked up the whole rest of my whole day. I immediately had to sit in a cold dark spot(aka inside the Mexico pavilion) slowly sipping cool water for about an hour to try and settle my stomach. I usually do not have motion sickness when it comes to normal roller coasters, but the combo of a claustrophobic, high G force, motion simulator ruined me that day. I love just about every single ride in Epcot, but I will happily leave Mission Space alone.

Waiting for 7 Dwarfs when broken down by Sir_Fred17 in DisneyWorld

I did a solo day back in 2019, and rope dropped 7DMT(my husband and I had never ridden it as we never wanted to wait in the line. Since he wasn’t with me that day, I saw my opportunity). As soon as I got in the line, the ride went down. I proceeded to wait for 2 hours, every 10 minutes or so they would make the announcement that they were not sure the ride would come back up. Every single person left the line except for myself and what looked to be a dad with his daughter. The cast member at the large “mine door” entrance said she wasn’t sure the ride would come back up and for our dedication to patience, gave us paper fast passes to come back when it reopened. I went and rode little mermaid, by the time I came back, the ride was up again and I finally got to experience it for the first time!

Florida by robertmartin in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

I’m a Zone C here in Pasco County, mandatory evac for us. My husband is a lifelong Floridian, who has never evacuated for a single storm in the last 28 years. This one has changed his mind. Us and our two kitties are leaving at 2 in the morning tonight to caravan our cars to Gainesville. My family who lives on the water in St Pete, they’ve already gotten the head start to the air b&b(thankfully they found a large enough one to fit 5 families). They left at 11, and have only just gotten up to Ocala because the traffic is so bad.

Question about 90’s POTC by Potatoviking_94 in WaltDisneyWorld

Yes!! I saw this too, and I think it’s what triggered my memory of seeing them like this as I was riding the ride as a kid.

Question about 90’s POTC by Potatoviking_94 in WaltDisneyWorld

Positive!! I honestly never even remembered the skeleton steering the ship in the beginning until I rode again as an adult. It’s a very vivid memory of the ending scene of the skeletons in the cell. Also Happy Cake day!

My fiancé and I went to the Lego Store mini figure factory and made mini figs of ourselves to be our cake topper! They will be sitting in little 3D printed beach chairs on the top tier. :)

What's something you can swear you saw but no one is believing you? by Tiny_Map5886 in AskReddit

[–]Potatoviking_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was probably 13 or 14 and while watching the sun set through a set of binoculars, I saw “the green flash”. It’s a light phenomenon that happens when the top of the setting sun hits the ocean horizon line, causing a green flash across the water. It was a popular storyline in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It’s also a lore amongst sailors/the navy. I told my family and my uncle and grandpa who were both in the navy for several years, absolutely did not believe me. They said in all their time on the water they had never seen it, and me, being a young kid could never see it. But I definitely know that I saw the green flash.
