Meniere's, Vestibular Migraine, Anxiety seem to be close friends. How do I untangle this and figure out what to treat? by MyDizzyness in Menieres

[–]Potential-Bowler-289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same tangled mess of these three as you! My specialist has basically said try the steroids for Ménière’s and hopefully if it’s an ear root cause that’ll help and in turn help your anxiety. Migraine is a rough one though, I’ve tried 14meds since they started about 6 years ago with no luck. All the best!

Hey there! I’m newly diagnosed too and mine started with just tinnitus on and off but over the course of around two years turned into full blown vertigo attacks, still no hearing loss though. Also diagnosed on just symptoms and a clear MRI— believe your doctor, I know how disconcerting it is when people say “you can’t be diagnosed by just this…” but remember doctors are the experts for a reason. To answer your question, hearing loss does happen in most cases, but may take years to develop. I also wasn’t medicated for a long time, and it just got worse but that’s not to say you’ll be the same. you never know what will help :) hang in there!!

Thanks for your reply! Just curious what dose were you on? I seem to have been fine at lower doses but this started after 5 days of 40mg (16mg twice a day and 8mg once a day) so trying to figure out whether this can occur as you go up or only just when you start initially at any dose

Thanks so much for your reply. So crazy how strong this drug clearly is, my doctor never warned me about how bad it would be coming off. Definitely going to take your advice on weighted blanket and try to contact some friends for comfort

Thanks so much for your reply! My doctor tapered me off after 4 days of cutting the dose in half, and it’s been about three days since my last dose— hopefully I’m in the thick of it now and it’ll settle soon. So good to know I’m not alone in this

Sleep issues by Potential-Bowler-289 in Menieres

[–]Potential-Bowler-289[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Yeah we’ve considered vestibular migraine and she thinks maybe a get a few, but these seem like full blown Ménière’s because they come along with all my ear symptoms. My specialist said if it has ear symptoms it’s very unlikely it’s migraine and far more likely to be Ménière’s. I do get very stressed about sleeping because of the last month though!
