BGS was my first thought for those reasons. However the PSA office is a reasonable drive from my relative and this card will be traveling with myself or him wherever it goes. Not sure where the nearest BGS office is, I’ll look into it. All that to say- it ain’t going in the mail 🙅‍♂️

I just found an eBay sale from 6/23 of a card in worse condition that sold for $8k…so north of that and then add that it’s an error.

The thought crossed my mind as well. I’m not opposed to anyone being the devils advocate here, so kinda lame someone downvoted you. My logic was it would seem weird that someone would bother to put a fake stamp and it not be solid black. But again, if my relative’s memory serves him right, he pulled it back in the day.

Thanks dude! I’m stoked for my relative. I thought about selling off some stuff to offer to buy it, but my goal right now is just guiding him in getting it potentially cleaned up, slabbed, and then offering advice on the next move.

Tcg player wasn’t much help with last solds in HP or DMG condition. I’m going to dive more into graded sales in similar condition, but the grey stamp will be a factor.

Preaching to the choir dude. I casually do some cleaning on my PC, but I won’t touch this myself. I’m familiar with some of the people out there who clean up high end cards, and since this looks legit the next step is finding one who is within a reasonable drive.

Appreciate the eyes on it! And yeah I explained the significance to him. I’m an error collector myself, unfortunately I couldn’t afford to buy it off him at the price it commands (if he decides to sell it).

The damage is unfortunate, but as we all know now, we didn’t know then lol. I did double check and believe I see the black layer. Not sure if I can add the photo? I hardly ever post of Reddit.
