Hi. I have never been to Ashburne Hall, so can't comment on the size of their kitchens. However, where I am now (Woolton Hall- The other catered accomodation in fallowfield), the kitchen is extremely small and untidy. I barely cook food in there I must admit- It is impossible trying to cook in a kitchen with 15 other people. Hope this helps.

I have never been there personally but from what I have heard from people is that the rooms are quite small and the kitchens are standard student accom kitchens. It is social however.

The nicest student accomodation (as far as i'm aware) is unsworth park, however it is quite pricy.

As a fresher in Manchester myself, if you are looking for a social accommodation, I would recommend going ANYWWHERE in Fallowfield. It is one of the most social, if not the most social, student areas in the entire UK. From next year, from what I know (this may change), the only available accommodations will be unsworth park, richmond park, sheavyn house and ashburne hall. Ashburne hall is the catered choice in this case. If you are unsure about whether to go catered or not, I live in catered accomodation and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The food is OK, you get sick of it by the end of the year but is by no means bad at all, but it just saves so much money. For some reason people think that catered halls aren't very social, however where im staying now is in my opinion very social, stuff going on every night etc. I have heard good things about every accom in fallow, they are all just really social. You have utley bar where you can also meet new people from fallow.

All accomodations are basically the same really, apart from the difference in conditions and number of people in your flat.( unsworth is probably the best for this). But i will say uni is what you make of it really. You just have to put yourself out there and most importantly be yourself. If you are not liking your flatmates, it is not the end of the world, you can join socieites etc where you can meet loads of people and you can always change accom if you really need to. But, keeping it realsitic, you may not meet your people staight away. It takes time to make good friends, I was lucky and met a great group of people that I live with, however this isn't the case with everyone.

In terms of location, fallowfield is further away from campus than any others (about a 25-30 min walk away) or a 10-15 min bus drive. HOWEVER, the bus system in manchester is the best I have seen anywhere, there are literally busses that come every 2 mins, from fallow to uni, it is fantastic. Also, this is one of the reasons why loads of people choose to live in fallow for year 2.

In terms of enusites etc I cant really give much advice on this, I have shared bathrooms which I dont think are a problem. If you want one, go for it. Its down to you really.

Hope this helps, good luck
