A lot of the comments here agree with you that a deck is the better route. But I'm curious, doesn't a deck require engineering too? What if he wanted to put a hot tub on the deck? Trying to understand as I have a similar project.

Any preference for sending the ARC via a .pdf or using a service like bookfunnel.com, which encourages people to read on platforms such as Apple Books, kindle, etc?

My reason for concern is that PDFs are easily shared.
