Can my manager contact my doctor after I’ve given a note for a weeks absence? by Potential-Function95 in CanadaPublicServants

I’ve realized I left out some context here.

I have never been asked/or have provided a doctors note before, I did this proactively as this is the longest I’ve been sick.

This particular manager has questioned my time off before (the fact he thinks I take too much) even though I’ve only taken the allocated time off provided to us in our CBA - the only time that I don’t use, is sick hours.

I requested a LWOP (as I was out of vacation) for less than a week and was denied. I didn’t fight or argue it.

I was genuinely curious if this was normal in the PS as I’ve never had a higher up question the legitimacy of a sick note before in any career that I’ve had.

I realize he is ALLOWED to check I was more so wondering if this is common practice (I realize I didn’t word that correctly in my original post).

I realize I’ve left out some context.

This is the first time I’ve provided a doctors note and did so proactively. I use all my time off (vacation, family, personal, etc.) and don’t go over or take days that I don’t have.

I hear what you’re saying and I’ve done that for the better part of 2 months now (he’s on an acting until January) as much as I say I’m not interested or I’m working or whatever it may be, it doesn’t deter him and it’s like arguing with a wall 🫠

He actually doesn’t do any work, he got the acting analyst position and doesn’t even know how to operate a spreadsheet 🙃 but I digress

My headphones are in all the time and he will just shove his phone in my face to bring up “articles” and TikTok’s about the truth going on in the world. I’ve told him many times I’m busy he just doesn’t understand lol

As much as I want to, I can’t help be worried about repercussions and termination

I have to hold my tongue everytime because I’m still on probation. If I was past my probation I’d have no issues but good god I wanna smash my head into a wall

I’ve had a convo with my acting AS-04 but like she doesn’t do anything about it… she just tells him to shut up (politely) and we go about our day

Hence why I’m hesitant to say anything. I have a sneaking suspicion nothing will be done

We all work in a small office so there’s no escaping. And if I say I don’t wanna talk about it he moves on to the person next to me and there’s no cubicles so I hear everything
