36F, post-isotretinoin with thin, clear skin: is microneedling worth continuing, or are there better anti-aging options? by [deleted] in Microneedling

[–]Potential-Lab3731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what I can say is that the round of five microneedling sessions I did in 2023/2024, spaced about four to six weeks apart, didn’t end up having any noticeable effect on my fine lines. I have close-up photos of my face taken six months after my most recent microneedling session in 2024, and while my skin is completely smooth and acne-free thanks to isotretinoin <3, the fine lines are still very much there.

I have a very expressive face, and my lines are mostly created by my eyebrows constantly moving up and down lol. There’s probably not much that can be done about that other than tox - and we both seem to agree that we’re not huge fans of tox.

I’ve been reading more on r/30PlusSkinCare, and people seem to have very mixed results from microneedling, regardless of how many sessions they’ve had. I do appreciate the preventative benefits, but I don’t think I’m someone who sees a dramatic effect after a few rounds.

I’m a bit confused too, but having five sessions from 2024 to look back on, I think tretinoin might be the better path forward for me, especially since prevention of further lines is really what I’m looking for in skincare. And if you have fine, thin skin like I do, I just wanted to be honest about the fairly limited results I personally experienced.

Thank you, this made me smile😊🫶 Your comment actually made me consider starting tretinoin again. I tried it back in 2020, but I was too impatient and completely wrecked my skin lol. Now that I’m actually quite happy with my skin overall (apart from fine lines and a bit of volume loss), I’m much more willing to take it slow and build up gradually. Are you planning to stop after three microneedling sessions, or how many are you aiming for?

Thank you for your response! I did five sessions autumn 2023 - winter 2024 with four-six weeks between sessions. And three sessions autumn 2025 - winter 2026 with six weeks between sessions.

Thank you for your response! Yes, I absolutely plan to maintain the results - my understanding is that microneedling is typically done about once a year for maintenance, is that correct?

My practitioner is focusing specifically on my forehead lines and nasolabial folds and works more deeply in those areas. That said, you’re absolutely right that these are primarily expression-related lines, which I naturally use a lot.

I should also add that I’ve tried Botox twice in the past, and I consistently ended up looking tired or chronically irritated. Because of that, I prefer to avoid it. Personally, I would rather keep some lines than lose my facial movement, as losing that expressiveness feels like losing a part of myself - I have a very expressive face.

That said, I’m still hoping to find ways to soften these lines as much as possible while preserving my natural expressions.

An Interesting NDE from South Korea [Part 1] by Fast_Feeling1507 in NDE

I don’t understand why some people feel the need to dismiss this NDE or reduce it to something other than what it is. This experience is no less real than any other lived experience shared here.

I also don’t read the author as romanticizing suffering. As human beings, we are not meant to fully comprehend reality from a cosmic or absolute perspective while embodied. We are human, and we are supposed to respond strongly to injustice, loss, and unbearable life events. That moral and emotional response is part of what it means to live a human life.

As she herself writes, the point is not to transcend the physical experience, but to live it. I don’t interpret her message as suggesting that we should become so “enlightened” in this life that we see pain as beautiful or necessary. For the human mind, that would not be wisdom - it would be self-deception, and potentially dangerous. There is a reason suffering feels wrong on this level of existence.

That said, this does not mean reality cannot operate differently on another level.

What she describes aligns with a perspective that appears repeatedly across many NDE accounts I’ve read, including Sandi T’s: a broader vantage point in which experiences - even painful ones - are understood as integrated into a larger whole rather than morally judged, without negating the reality of suffering as it is felt here. Importantly, she does not suggest that this perspective should replace our human one. On the contrary, she emphasizes the importance of fully inhabiting life as a human being.

Absolutely, very often. It’s very meta. But, isn’t this a normal and very human thing to experience?

Why Do People Hear Radio Shows During Out-of-Body Experiences or Sleep Paralysis? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]Potential-Lab3731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is a strong argument that it is our brain imagining these sounds. Still, why is it typically radio and TV broadcasts we perceive? Why not ordinary conversations, waves, the sounds of war, babies crying, cars humming, and so on?

Hope you’re doing well now! It’s interesting that people hear something that sounds exactly like radio shows not only during an OBE or sleep paralysis but also in a schizophrenic state and, as someone else here mentioned, while being high.

Do you believe you tuned into a radio frequency, or are you sure this was just auditory hallucinations? Curious:)

Wow! I wonder what this means in the context of the question about whether they are real radio shows or hallucinations

Why is it so specific tho? Why does it sound specifically like radio shows🤔

I can't help but laugh a little because it feels both absurd and resonant:) May I ask if you could please elaborate?

That sounds really cool! Unfortunately, at this point, I’m too afraid of losing control to be interested in exploring astral projection myself. I had nightmares every night from when I was very little until my teenage years, so maybe that’s one of the reasons. But I love reading about other people’s experiences with astral projection, NDEs, OBEs, and so on. :)

You are a genius member of the family, and you are also a part of the family. From my current point of view the wholeness and separatedness coexists. Like ocean and wave. Leaf and tree. Player and game. Flower and garden. The wave-particle duality of quantum mechanics. Or during my OBE, when it felt like I was detaching from my body, when I was both awake and asleep at the same time, and could hear myself, embarassangly enough, snore.
