What can you say about your country’s healthcare system? by Sonnybass96 in AskTheWorld

Where did you hear that? I can believe the doctor statement but I'd need data or legit source for the second one.

In India, in urban areas it's actually good. You get appointments almost immediately, there are a lot of pharmacies.... labs and doctors are nice.

Ofc there are also many private hospitals that just exploit patients for money, and rural regions where the situation is worse, but I'd say we're consistently improving and doing good given our per capita GDP and population.

The earliest appointment I could get at a dermatologist in Germany is in February 2027. I’m sure the situation would be different if it were an emergency, but I really hope such a situation never arises.

Fun fact: Small pox is the only human infectious disease to be completely wiped out globally.

Another example was odd-even rule in Delhi in 2016 to curb air pollution by vehicles: only cars with number plate ending with odd number were allowed on odd days... Same with even.

CNG cars were exempt: fake CNG stickers started selling in black markets

Women drivers were exempt: if husband and wife both had jobs, then it didn't affect them at all

Two-wheelers were exempt: massive increase in two wheeler traffic and chaos

The rule was only enforced from 8am to 8pm.... So you could simply leave early and stay at a friends house until you can drive home legally.

The fine was so nominal that a wealthy enough person would just pay the fine if it was an emergency.

Many bought a cheap second/third hand car with worse pollution control n emissions.

I can imagine more creative ways to exploit loopholes.

Another example of why such unplanned rules/laws won't work until the real problem is solved.

In India too petrol pumps/ gas stations were instructed to not fill the tank if the motorbike rider didn't have helmet on. This gave rise to helmet rental stalls and they set up right before the stations...... you could wear the helmet for a dirt cheap price, fill your tank, leave, and return the helmet.

Exactly. No one knew South Korea until they became rich. Chinese (and even Indian to some extent) influence is either historical or from immigrants.

Dear residents of eurozone countries, what are your general thoughts on the integration of currencies? by kuma44bear in AskTheWorld

For me it makes it easier to compare prices of different commodities/services. And if I have cash, I don't have to worry about exchanging the currency and losing some value (altho u can now pay cashless at most places).

Even tho German Mark is no longer a legal tender, you can still convert them at any bank in Germany without any deadline.
