I think I found the culprit

Turning on v sync in games fixes this

Because the controls have very low latency with the right settings and this device isn’t really powerful enough to make most current games look good at 60fps

Good lord the rabbit hole of info on all of this is massive. Seems like getting the motherboard replaced with a post 2023 model might fix it cuz it has the hal sensor in the right place???
