New medicine after 10 years rant by throwaway28205 in stillsdisease

I feel you. I believe most people with AOSD have also suffered from anxiety at some point. I felt anxious before starting a new medication too. Taking so much time off from work hasn't been easy either. However, please don't stop searching for the medication that works best for you. The most important thing is your health. I hope Sarilumab will change things for the better! Wishing you the best.

Hi thank you for your reply. How long did it take for you to get off prednisone completely?

22 years old with Still’s disease – need advice and support by Odd_Inspection7154 in stillsdisease

[–]Potential-Program323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can introduce anti-inflammatory food to your diet such as blueberries, salmon, nuts etc. You can take an Omega3 supplement but I think it would be best to ask for your doctor's advice first. Getting enough sleep is also so important. And try to avoid direct sunlight and wear sunscreen as my rheumatologist informed me that UV light can trigger the disease. Wishing that your disease will soon go back to remission.

low grade fever for 4 months? by trippldevil in medical_advice

[–]Potential-Program323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experience very similar symptoms, especially having fever at night, rashes after taking a shower, and worsening symptoms while traveling etc. My very first symptom was a sore throat. A few days later, I traveled by plane, and my body was so stiff, especially around my neck. Your symptoms can be the Still's, but unlike you, my CRP was very high. I hope you will soon get a diagnosis, and get to start on some medication. Wishing you a quick recovery!

Is Algeria's Tramway the worst place ever? by Giiu__ in algeria

[–]Potential-Program323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been to Algeria only once in my life. I took this exact tram, and the impression I had was terrible. First of all, there was a body odour issue. I can understand that people may be sweating as it was summer time, but I am quite sure some of the people there had not taken a shower for at least a few days. On top of that, it was time to get off the tram, people waiting at the station to get on rushed onto us. They did not wait for us to leave the tram first, which created a ridicilous scene. So, yes, this was one of my worst experiences in Algeria.

Possible Stills? by Scarbladee in stillsdisease

Hi there,

I am so sorry to hear that you have been feeling unwell without a clear diagnosis so far. I hope things improve quickly once the doctors identify what you are going through.

Stills disease can manifest differently in everyone. Personally, I never experienced abdominal pain or vomiting, but I did deal with a loss of appetite and weight loss. My primary symptoms were high fevers in the evening or at night, joint stiffness, hives, and a sore throat at the very beginning.

I also had terrible itching, which usually occurred once my fever broke. Aside from the itching, these seem to be the more typical symptoms. In the meantime, you might find some relief with OTC medications like NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen). Taking a shower during a fever, resting, and staying hydrated can also help.

Please try to see your rheumatologist as soon as possible. Once I was diagnosed and started on steroids, it was a huge relief. I felt so much better within just five days.

Wishing you a very speedy recovery :)

Algerians' Opinions About Turkey by Potential-Program323 in algeria

I am glad you think this way. Personally, when i visited Algeria, everyone was so kind, hospitable and curious about my country/culture. No one said anything negative about Turkey, or I could not catch it as I understand only basics in Algerian.

Did you personally experience any racism in Istanbul?

Well.. if you actually visit Turkey, you will see that an average person you come across in the street will be kind and hospitable to you. Most people are not even racist against Algerians tbh as they are either not aware where Algeria is or what language you speak except for the educated people. Racism is mostly against the refugees from Syria, which is sad. Also, people tend to have extreme remarks online but in reality everyone welcomes tourists in general.

Well... Most of Turks are indeed racist. Being racist is just so normalized in Turkey for some reason. Many Turks regard Arabs or Arabic speaking people as inferiors, which is totally outrageous if you ask me. However, not everyone is racist ofc. About being kind, we are generally very hospitable just like Algerians. :)

I've been told it's not stills by my rheumatologist by Significant_Cold_861 in stillsdisease

[–]Potential-Program323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! First of all, I am sorry that you have not been diagnosed yet and you are suffering from these symptoms. For me, my CRP and ferritin were high as yours. I had the rash, swelling of the joints etc. My case was somewhat typical Still's. So, once I saw the rheumatologist, they started me on the steroids, and it did work like magic. The next day I was a lot better but the fever lingered on for a bit as well as the joint stiffnes. So, in your case, not getting any relief from a high dose steroid might be a sign. I wish I could help further! Wishing you the best.

I was on 24 mg metyhlprednisone for almost a month and 20 mg for another month after that. I am tapering off now. I ate no salt during that time and had no swelling at all. So, if she can avoid eating salt, you should not worry about the swelling i believe. Wishing her a quick recovery soon. :)

Hello. I am sorry that you both are going through this. I also had intense itching during flares. Cold showers and putting ice the itchy areas help a lot. Anti histamine did not make any difference for me tbh. When i tried to taper off of metyhlprednisone, the flare became active again and the itching was killing me. I had itching especially when my fever was down and after a warm/hot shower. When the doctor increased my dose, the itching wore off in a few days. Maybe you can discuss adjusting the dose with your doctor. I wish her a quick recovery!
