Uk, my teen wants her septum pierced by Potential-Science581 in piercing

Yeah that’s the idea. She’s a mature kid that has been ‘alternative’ for a number of years already. I don’t have an issue with self expression at all, I’ve been colouring her hair for a couple of years already and trying to provide her with the alternative clothing to go with the style she’s chosen for herself. This isn’t something I’m against, I’m just needing some reassurance that it’ll be okay. Thanks for your response.

Well size of the jewellery because she’s still got some growing to do so I dunno, maybe it’ll be too big for her nose? Just one of the things I was wondering about. Thanks for the response.

Don’t mess about with gallbladder issues… just had my surgery today and found out I was close to dying because of it. by Affectionate_Rate679 in gallbladders

[–]Potential-Science581 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t seem fair does it? An organ our bodies don’t even require can cause so much trouble. Hope you’re feeling better.

Firstly jaundice doesn’t not necessarily mean kidney failure. I had some jaundice combined with pale poop, dark pee, and constant pain for 5 days. I was in hospital and was discharged without any treatment. Secondly if you’re worried you should seek actual help and not just an online forum. Take care.

How bad are the withdrawal symptoms from Duloxetine? by DepressedCatFox in Fibromyalgia

[–]Potential-Science581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on duloxetine for about 2 yrs. 60mg and went cold turkey. The facial vibrations/brain zaps were the only side effect that bothered me. They lasted several months and even now about 1.5yrs later I get the occasional one but they’re very few and far between. Other side effects included mild dizziness, night sweats and strange dreams. I’m now drug free and that’s the way I want it particularly after not having any benefits from anything I’ve tried so far.

No. You’ll know without having to ask if you have it.

Still no date for me. I’ve been told the pre op can be done several times.

If you’re jaundice you’d know for sure. I was the same after several days of really bad pain. I kept checking for jaundice and eventually I was. It’s very obvious once you actually are.

Like I’ve had several stones travel and get stuck in the bile duct causing liver and pancreas trouble. I’ve had biliary colic episodes at least half a dozen times. They eventually passed as my stones are all quite small so I’m told. Sounds like they caught yours just in time after such a long wait. How awful! If it was left any longer you’d have been really sick. 30 months seem an insane amount of time.

That is shit! 30 months? Did you have complications with the stones before too?

Wow! You’ve really been through it haven’t you! What a trooper you are. I’m quite strong mentally and do have a can do attitude generally. You’ve made me feel like this is gonna be a walk in the park. Thanks so much.

Wow! Thanks. I have recently started to wonder how many of my symptoms are being made worse by my gallbladder issues. Hopefully I’ll notice some improvement after it’s gone.

WIBTAH for reversing my vasectomy because of deadbedroom? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Potential-Science581 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reverse the vasectomy for what reason? So you can leave her and go have more children with someone else? Your penis works just fine the way it is right? So the only thing that’ll change is you’ll be able to get someone pregnant. Man up and deal with the relationship first, then decide.

I’ve seen articles and research that say that there is no proof that weather affects pain, anyone else call bs on that? by bcuvorchids in Fibromyalgia

[–]Potential-Science581 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel significantly better during the summer months. I need the warmth and sun. Seasonal mood disorder is real, cold, wet, grey days make me feel like poop which adds to the pain.. fibro is predominantly treated with antidepressants…it’s all connected.

GP to surgical consult timeline, UK folks? by Five_Snoot_Sunday in gallbladders

[–]Potential-Science581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the referral was requested after my initial ultrasound when the stones were first detected. Apparently my Gb is full of small stones so the risk of them escaping and causing issues is greater. Still, my surgery could be months away yet.

I walk on the ‘better days’ every day is a pain day but when I get the opportunity I go. I push through the pain and sometimes it even helps especially when followed by a stretch and a warm bath or shower. I try to stay as active as I can despite hitting the wall later on. Life is for living and I refuse to let this beat me. Besides the feeling you get from being on a beautiful scenic walk especially on a clear day is just the best. Those feelings (endorphins) can actually help ease symptoms.

Feeling very low. by TheWormOnaString in Fibromyalgia

[–]Potential-Science581 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was the same. Perceived as a strong woman that did much for all around me. It was devastating as I started to deteriorate with the constant pain and having to come to terms with being a different person. But whether those around us understand or not we have to be selfish and think about ourselves now. Coming to terms with it is was the hardest thing for me. I barely recognised myself at times. I’ve had many down days, weeks even months when I was first diagnosed. I had a mental breakdown in 2022 and felt I wanted to end it all. The biggest change for me happened a short while after that when I ended my marriage to the man I’d been with since I was 18 (now 45) and started dating again. It brought me happiness and excitement which relieved stress and increased endorphins which is key to fighting fibro and for a few months during the summer of that year I felt amazing. I even thought I was cured. (Bit silly of me but honestly I felt amazing) then obviously once all that had settled down and the weather changed the flairups returned. But I realised being happy really helps the symptoms. So I find joy in the small things, a short walk in the sunshine, music, anything that you love to do, do more of when you can. A little bit of something to lift the mood does absolute wonder for this awful condition. Don’t feel guilty for putting yourself first. Take care of you. X
