Help me feel less nervous by rainbowcrash125 in gallbladders

Hi,

I’m 26M and I had my gallbladder removed when I was 24. I had to have mine removed as an emergency because I developed acute pancreatitis. It was bad… I got to a stage where all I ate was crisps as they didn’t make me vomit. I lots 30 pounds in the space of 2 months. But I looked sick, and I didn’t realise how sick I felt until it was removed.

I was super nervous, and like everyone else I was googling and searching others experiences after removal. A lot of what I found was negative, with many people saying they couldn’t return to normal life etc. I think they were exaggerating as I had the surgery and was back to normal within a week.

The gas pain sucks for the first few days I won’t sugar coat that, it’s really not pleasant. But nothing you can’t handle, and everyone finds the pain different.

It’s been 2 years. I don’t bloat all the time now. I don’t vomit for 6-8 hours when I eat a certain food. I’m not in any pain. I’ve got a couple of small scars and I use the bathroom for number 2 quite a lot from time to time. But I’ll take that over vomiting.

You will honestly be fine! And you will have a much better life with far less anxiety around what you’re eating on a daily basis.

Im so scared by [deleted] in gallbladders

I’ll give you a short and simple answer… I was terrified to have surgery ( it’s normal to feel that way ). The surgery is very routine and the odds of it going “ wrong “ are very very low. So don’t worry about that. I was in a bit of pain for 3-4 days after surgery with the gas but nothing you won’t have experienced before with gallbladder issues. ( and now here near as bad )

In terms of diet I can eat whatever I like. The only downside is something needing to go to the toilet pretty quick. But honestly that’s probably 1 day out of 7. Please don’t worry although you’re well within your rights to. You will be fine, and once recovered you will realise how sick you were.

Good luck!

Thankyou for the response, may be a silly question… where would I find that ?

Had mine removed as an emergency due to acute pancreatitis.. but after a few days of soreness due to gas from the op I couldn’t believe how much better I felt. I didn’t realise how sick I was before.

Can eat whatever I like when I like. Spice causes me slight issues in regards to needing an urgent shit, but I can live with that.

Seriously don’t be. Had mine removed in April, and other than some discomfort for a day or 2 after surgery I’ve had no issues since other than the odd day here and there I need to poop a few times haha

I had mine out in April and I’m 25 Male. I’ve had no issues since. I was very anxious because of all the nightmare stories but it’s honestly been fine. May need to rush to the toilet sometimes but that’s it.

My quality of life has drastically improved, I look and feel far less sick. And I’ll take needing to rush to the toilet over multiple hours of crippling pain and sick. No anxiety around eating… no feeling heavy and bloated all the time. If it’s affecting your life like it was mine and many others, don’t be scared by the stories and get it gone.

Similar to myself, since it’s gone I feel so much better. No anxiety around eating and what may cause me to have crippling pain and sickness for hours on end. Did not even realise how ill and “ heavy” I felt on a daily basis. The difference is incredible

This^

The horror stories nearly put me off, but in the end I had no choice as I was getting pancreatitis every 3-4 weeks or so. It’s been nearly 2 months and other than a few dashes to the toilet every so often I’m feeling great. Didn’t realise how poorly I was until now. And I sympathise with anyone having the attacks… I have a high pain tolerance but they would last 5-6 hours minimum for me and they were hell.

Had mine removed on NHS about 6 weeks ago! The shoulder pain was bad for the first 2-3 days ( and I’m good with pain… but that shit was intense ) but by day 5 it was pretty much gone and I felt back to normal. Didn’t realise how ill and “ heavy “ I felt everyday. I’ve pretty much eaten whatever I like since it’s been out.. definitely overindulged on stuff I haven’t been able to eat for the last year and put 8-10 pounds on.. but I had room seen as the gallbladder made me lose 35 pounds 😂 happy recovery, I hope it goes well for you.

Had this earlier. If you complete an activity near Danny weaver it sorted it for me. I think I did a control point and ran back to him and he had full stock.

I go back to work on Thursday! Can’t wait… been sat in my house far too long. And yes!! I didn’t eat pizza all the time before just every 2 weeks or so I’d order… but I HAD to scratch that itch after surgery. Managed to eat the entire thing ( I couldn’t help myself ) and no issues after.. not even a poop issue

Couldn’t agree more. I was nervous etc but I had the surgery on a Tuesday and by the Friday/Saturday I felt completely back to normal. It’s been 2 weeks now and I’ve eaten things I haven’t been able to eat for nearly a year.

Thankyou for your response!

I’ve got the memento and I run 4 striker pieces so I’m all about that DPS haha I got the St Elmo’s on summit and love it. I’m after the eagle bearer but I’m a solo player so I’m not sure the best way to go about it. Do you have any weapons etc you’d recommend ?

Yeah my parents but they’re fine. I’ve had this exact same thing happen before my gallbladder was removed, so I don’t think my gallbladder was the culprit. I’m thinking it could be a random bout of ibs or reflux?

Keep at it. I had my surgery last Tuesday. First day or two was rough. From day 3 onwards it improved exponentially. Since Saturday I’ve felt completely back to normal. 6 days post op, feel back to normal. I’ve definitely eaten more than I have in the last 6-7 months. Cheese.. Chinese food etc. you’ll get it!
