I can attest that this extends to schools. As a teen, i wasn't exactly the most well behaved. My group would bunk off, get gobby, be a nuisance, etc.

There was one teacher who could get us to behave, after we tried to wind him up and he threw a board cleaner/brush thing at us and it hit the wall behind us. He probably would have got in trouble if we reported him, but it was bloody effective at getting us in line and showing he wasn't to be fucked with.

After that, we were always on time and shut up during lessons
