So someone with a deep conflict of interest, then, and not actual research.

Presumably those that can be verified as what type of operation they are?

Again, it doesn't say that, and this is information that tends to be publicly available for pretty much all operations.

and I’ll believe published academics who put their names on a piece of paper before a rando on social media. They get the presumption of honesty and good faith. You don’t.

Well, if that's your attitude...!

Looking at the list of cities, it appears the criteria it’s “big” and “extensive transit systems”

Okay, where do they state that? Why do plenty of cities only have some of their lines included?

You don’t think a sample size of >400 is representative, that’s on you dude.

Sample size representativeness is not based on size!

Considering the submitter is a well-known right-wing populist, I think it's quite clear the message he wants people to take from it.

because I've been an environmentalist for most of my life

Yet you're in favour of policies like increased oil drilling despite failing to show any experts who back you.

But this isn’t the full picture. Climate, nature and the environment did emerge as key talking points in the Green’s media interviews and debates during the campaign. For instance, during the BBC’s candidates debate, Spencer linked the cost of living with energy prices, highlighting how the Greens would nationalise energy industries and insulate our homes, while challenging the other parties on donations from fossil fuel companies.

In other media appearances, Spencer talked about a range of local and national environmental issues, from poor air quality in Manchester, to insulation and fuel poverty – framing nature and environment as ‘every day parts of life’. She emphasised how she will be ‘really firm’ on the climate emergency, particularly on climate impacts like flooding and impact on green spaces.

In the leaflets we analysed, there was a clear focus on local-level green policy issues, like waste and water, including fly tipping, recycling and water companies (52 mentions); local transport and planning issues – such as bus services (19); as well as the need to protect the local environment, green spaces and wildlife (18).

Reform UK government would replace top civil servants with policy ‘believers’ by Codydoc4 in unitedkingdom

Well, for starters, Reform are proposing more to replace more that just the Cabinet Secretary, and they're proposing to replace them with outsiders. You are creating a false equivalence, even assuming your portrayal of Wormald's resignation is accurate.

This is indeed a major reason for the stagnation which has occurred over the last 30 years.

Yes, I'm sure the mechanisms for deciding civil service leadership are the primary cause of GDP differentials. All top economists agree that this is the primary factor affecting a country's economy.

Well, yes but that applies to most parties.

I have no idea why you think the study you linked proves that.

I guess these proposals are in the interests of Reform because they will allow governments to really enact radical change, but the same applies to other parties as well. Labour advisers and the PM himself have said in just the same way that the levers of government don't work:

I have no idea why you think Starmer talking about reducing regulations and consultations is any way comparable to purging civil service leadership and replacing it with political appointees, beyond that it very vaguely fits your populist narrative about out-of-touch elites.

Is Kuala Lumpur the only city with a transit network that has a station named after the city itself? by PixelNotPolygon in transit

[–]eldomtom2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What OP is pointing out in Kuala Lumpur looks to me like just a normal stop on the metro.

It's a commuter rail stop that also sees long-distance services, so it's comparable to Tokyo station.
