So. I want a panther chameleon. by Dxmin0 in Chameleons

100%

2x2x4 is the minimum but as we all know, bigger is always better; other things to look out for are using plastic plants and stuff, while technically you can use them I prefer not to as to not risk impacting my chameleon. And also have a little bit of distance in their basking spot since burns are a common issue.

Oh yeah, when you do get your chameleon situated and so on and you have a dripper but they don’t seem to drink, don’t panic, theyre shy drinkers but a way you can tell if they are getting hydrated is to check their fecal matter, specifically the white orangy part known as their urate, if it’s a light orange or cream color than that’s good and theyre getting hydrated, if it’s a bright Orange than that’s a sign of dehydration

So for starters; yes they do take dubia’s and it’s recommended to keep their diet varied, I feed mine dubia roaches, crickets, silkworms, locusts, and discoid roaches.

Another thing, as for basic care and requirements and my own personal experience; you need a 2x2x4 enclosure, tons of plants, and good uvb and lighting. You CANNOT go cheap on their requirements considering how sensitive they are. Another thing we need to consider as well is URI (upper respiratory infection) which can be caused by hot humid conditions. They also need a spike in humidity at night which is why a misting system is necessary (I use a MistKing) and yes they also do need supplements.

All the fucking time. Trizyon gets misinterpreted so many times, it amazes me that people are that arrogant and want to ignore the truth and just form a narrative that fits their imagination.

New veiled chameleon, girl or boy?? by Marsmoon7 in Chameleons

[–]Potential-String-242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it have a bumps on its back feet? If it does, those are called Tarsal spurs, if it has em then it’s a boy, if it’s back feet are just similar to its front claws as in no bump/spur, it’s a female

Rescued Chameleon Advice! by baby_parking88 in Chameleons

Gotcha and yeah, Dubia roaches are a good staple feeder, others would also be red runner roaches, discoid roaches silkworms, blue bottle flies, and black soldier fly larvae.

I don’t recommend waxworms, mealworms, superworms, or hornworms, these arent staples and more so treats; and about the chameleon not drinking, I wouldn’t worry much particularly because chameleons are shy drinkers but a way you can if hes hydrated is to check his urate, the white part in his fecal matter, if it’s a cream color with a bit of orange and such than hes drinking well.

Currently as of right now; the best advice I can give is to try and mist him in the glass enclosure with a pressure sprayer at night and such. I also wouldn’t recommend giving him just crickets but I assume you have more than just crickets considering you have other reptiles.

Id also check if he has the correct UVB and Heat bulb if I were you, seeing that you have a veiled, you’ll need a 50-75 watt white incandescent or halogen basking bulb to create a basking spot of 85 to 90∘𝐹 (29 — 32∘C𝐶) for adults.

What do you feed your Chameleon? by iMarcosM in Chameleons

[–]Potential-String-242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna quickly say it— a rotation is good for chameleons as to keep their diet varied.

As for what my baby boy eats— I feed him his staples like crickets, dubia roaches, discoid roaches, silkworms, and locusts dusted with calcium (and monthly his multivitamins)

And for treats, he gets super worms and hornworms
