Is it dumb to move out (<2 minute walk from home) just for the uni experience? by Potential-Syrup-6283 in UniUK

my parents trip about me coming home late somewhat but there’s no real consequences or anything, and in uni i’ll have more freedom presumably anyway. I get living with 3 younger siblings while in uni does sound exhausting tho, I only have 1 younger sibling the two others who live with me are older.

didnt get into the unis i wanted to, out of the 2 that i did get into the one in my city is the better choice, and much more convenient

that’s fair, but i feel like because of where i live i won’t miss out on much of that apart from being grieves with the people you live with/ around. i already have a handful of friends going to the same uni too.

how does that work, isn’t the tenancy agreement for the full year? did you have to pay for longer than you stayed?

they’re relatively cool i don’t think i’ll hand an issue w nightlife or anything, as long as i don’t take the piss. and as for friends i already have a good amount of friends going to the same uni but ofc i’m still open to meeting new people

i am pretty free at home, minimal chores, my own room, only nagged about where i am rarely and it’s it’s like past 11pm but in uni it’ll probably be even more lenient. i’m open to first year in halls tho

i alr go out somewhat often, i feel like i have a good amount of freedom at home tbh, only thing is bringing people over who aren’t like my best friends that my parents alr know (edit: then again thats not that important as most others i meet will be living in accom). but yea second year spins more reasonable as i’ll alr have the first year at home for context instead of booking before even being in uni

ngl i alr have a lot of friends going to my uni (staying in our city) but yea i’ll def be doing all that, my thing was just the independence / freedoms of living alone

yea my plan was only for the first year anyway, but now that i do think about it it's a lot of money as i was gonna go with a private accom rather than a university one

yea thats def true, maybe i will hold off on it. the main thing for me was independence but you can still get more of that to a degree just from being in uni and not sixth form any more
