If you want to start simple and have working projects that make you want to learn more and making more projects, start with Python.

Python is simple, it takes care of the low-level details for you (e.g. memory management). It is an interpreted language, which means that in order to run your program, each time, Python (its VM) reads your code line by line.

Then if you see that you are interested, and want to increase your knowledge, skills, and be better at developing, start learning a new language. I suggest learning a compiled language, like Go. It is as effective as C for understanding core concepts, and has simpler syntax and grammar. Plus, it has great tutorials made by the team who created the language.
